I'm taking my dad for the first time. Mom passed away in May, so this is our father-daughter trip. :grouphug:

Dad smokes. I've looked at all the park and resort maps, and now understand where the designated smoking areas are (never had to pay attention to this before!).

My question relates to the bus stops or areas just outside the parks. Are there designated smoking areas there as well? :confused3 Tried to find a map to help with this but no luck.

Hopefully someone here can give me the answer.

TIA

I'm pretty sure that there is usually a designated smoking area somewhere between the park gates and bus stop areas. Sometimes it may only be marked by one of the garbage cans with the built in ashtray on top.

I don't know the answer to your bus stop question (non-smokers who drive) but I encourage you to check the current park maps when you arrive.

Smoking areas do move sometimes. Occasionally it's seasonal - one used to be by the side of Sir Mickey's (behind the castle) when we were there in September it had moved (due to the crane) to the side of Castle Couture on the pathway down to Liberty Square. Others (One in AK appeared opposite Pizzafari on the way to Camp Mickey Minnie on one trip) move more permanently.

Smoker here. The resort maps will show the closest smoking areas to the bus stops there. I don't remember seeing any smoking areas at any of the park bus stops or in the areas close to the park entrances. The number of DSAs in the parks has shrunk significantly in recent years. Your DF will need to strategically plan his smoking breaks to harmonize with your touring plans. He might want to take a couple of packs of nicorette gum to help him along the way.

There is usually one on each side outside the park entrance to the left or right. If there is an ash tray you can smoke there. Never any right by the bust stops though

get your dad a smokeless e cig

I will reiterate what another poster has already said, lest it may have been overlooked amid the other helpful information posted: Be aware that DSA's within the parks can move with no warning. I have lost count of the number of times I lit up at a marked DSA area with the appropriately marked ash cans present :smokin:, returned a few hours later, lit up and realized ..... they were gone :scared1: Of course it resulted in red face, much apologizing on my part etc.:headache: I have been lucky in that anyone who had been present was so nice about it, but I could totally have understood a non smoker being upset

Unfortunately that won't help at WDW. E-cigs are no different from regular cigarettes in that they must be smoked in a designated smoking area.

I saw numerous people walking around all over the MK and our resort with ecigs last week.

Of course, I also saw many people with regular cigarettes walking around, too.

I'm curious about this. I know that DCL has classified ecigs as regular. Does WDW do the same?

Also, can I just say? Michigan State is on FIRE today!

I vape in the restroom, even on a plane. My niece is a flight attendant and she knows people are doing it and it's ok with her. There is no heat and the vapor disappears quickly. The real reason you have to go to smoking area is people freak out and thinks it's a real cigarette.

I just wanted to reply and say I hope you and your dad have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

Everything's marked on the maps.

Yes they are, but as posted above, they sometimes move them with no warning :rolleyes2

I think this is why. I got a black one with a green light on purpose because of this, but still go hide away to use it :rotfl:
