Grumpy: Me, a 32 year old technical instructor for an alive and kicking dot com. Six trips to Disneyland and third to WDW

Goofy: 43 year old DW, Comp Sci student. Three trips to DL, 20th trip to WDW

Bashful: 7 year old DD. Two trips to DL, 2nd trip to WDW

After leaving our cabin and heading off to MGM, I remembered we forgot to book the Fantasmic dinner package! Oh well, we'll do it at the park. We get to MGM about 10am and sure enough, Star Wars weekend is in full swing! I go off with DD as DW hunts down Star Wars activities.

The first thing we hit is Tower of Terror (ToT). List time for this ride is 25 minutes and we're on in 15 without using fast pass (FP) since we had grabbed one for Rocking Roller Coaster (RRC). The CM who let us into the elevator was TJ and he was really into the creepy bellman act. Freaking DD out on this ride was a good start to the vacation. She had been on this during our last visit when she was 5 but didn't remember much. The three times we came to MGM, she always wanted to hit ToT, was terrified on it then loved it afterward.

AFter getting off ToT, we went looking for Guest of Honor badges. I'm pointed to a store on the main drag that says "engraving" in the window. A couple of minutes later, I have the badges and we're off to RRC. We get there a couple of minutes before our FP time so we people watch before riding. The FP line allowed us to bypass a 15 minute wait and we walked right up to the studio. I think the studio is well done and the ride itself is good as well. This coaster does 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds then is slows down. At first, the inversions are so shallow and you're moving so quick that you don't notice you're upside down. A bit later though it's noticable. Make sure you put stuff away for this ride, even stuff you don't expect to fly off.

DD and I wandered a bit to see what's going on in Star Wars land before meeting up with DW for lunch at 50's Prime Time. This visit was a disappointment. I had the fried chicken, which was good, but our server didn't play the part of brother/cousin from the 50s, instead it was more like "surly 50s waiter". After lunch we go back to the Star Wars area where the girls go on Star Tours and I take pictures. Before leaving, I stopped off to make a Priority Seating for Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Dinner for tomorrow night.

We head back to the resort about 2:30pm for naps and this is where I spend an hour dealing with my cinnabon, I can't eat food with a high fat content. I manage to recover in time for dinner because we have Priority Seating (PS) for dinner at 1900 Park Fair at the Grand Floridian, aka The Villians Dinner!

If driving, make sure you give yourself extra time to get there because non-resort guest parking is a few minute walk away. Once you enter the lobby of the Grand Floridian, assuming you walked under the monorail tracks, you need to turn left and you'll be facing 1900 Park Fair.

To quote DW: "This is one of the best pieces of prime rib I've ever had." I felt the same way about the salmon. The meal started off with us arriving to a table with a cutting board which had two clumps, one of rolls and one of sticky buns. The clumps are where they are baked together and you pull one off the pile. The key lime pie was very bland but the strawberry soup was good.

The character interaction was excellent here. It must be tough gauging how far you can go as the bad guy but they did a good job. Prince John snuck up behind me and pur his hand over my eyes while I was eating. He then walked over to DD and pretended he was picking his nose and wiping a booger on her. After that, we heard a loud shriek when Gov. Radcliff scared some woman on the other side of the restaraunt. It cost us $60 plus tip for the three of us which is a good price considering we're at WDW. We'll be coming back here!

After dinner, we went over to the Magic Kindom (MK). We rode on Pirates which, while good, I continue to find inferior to the one at Disneyland. We also rode on the Jungle Cruise. I don't ride this very often because of the amount of corn in the jokes. Once is enough for me for a trip and usually a couple of trips.

On leaving the park we decided against looking for Publix or Walmart. We go over to Goodings where we get a six pack of 1/2 liter bottles of water (they wanted $7.50 for a 12 pack!) and several gallon jugs. I figure we'll drink from the bottles and refill them back at the resort. This worked fairly well. We also got milk, soda, fruit, etc. This is also one of only two places in the US that I know has mint Jelly Belly's, the other being a candy store in the Mall of America near Minneapolis.

This shopping trip ended a long day. Tomorrow, Epcot and MGM again!

Highlights of the day: Pics of the Star Wars characters, TT, RRC, Dinner
Lowlights: Lunch

How our plans met expectations: We had planned on staying for the fireworks at MK since they don't run them in during the week anymore but thanks to America West, we decided we were too tired.

I agree about Pirates in MK. DL's version seemed longer and better themed. Sounds like Villians Dinner was good and fun!

We also loved the Villians Dinner. That strawberry soup is yummy! Sounds like you guys had a fun day! Thanks for posting!

5 days until WDW!:bounce:

Grumpy -
Couple of questions
Is there a time limit you can stay in non-resort guest parking? Would I be better off taking WDW transportation from Swan?

Were drinks extra at 1900 Park Fare dinner?

Thanks for your great report

We didn't have any problems with a time limit and no one gave us an expiring parking pass like they do at the YC/BC.

You'd probably have to transfer in order to get there so if you don't mind that then take the bus to TTC then monorail in.

We only had soda with dinner but it was included. I don't know if alcohol would be or not.
