Hi Ladies
Mom of a future Disney Bride, she getting married in September,Epcot..Japan
Reception Cali Grill..Desert Party France.
She is currently assembling her info packets, for Dress at Ceremony and Reception she is asking that guest wear Business Casual she is also asking that they also wear Business casual to DP, 3-4 hours after reception, some family members(her dad for one) think that telling guests what to wear for DP is not appropriate, and guests should come dressed comfortably..Dd does not want any shorts, jeans or t-shirts in pictures as she is paying a premium price for a split photography session..
What is the appropriate dress for DP's? How are you asking your guests to dress?
She and Groom will be in wedding attire.
Thanks

The style of your invitations should indicate dress for any party-technically. The more formal the invitations and the time of day generally direct guests on matters of attire for weddings. However, as the world changes and families change, so do weddings. All aspects of your ceremony and reception are about sharing your love with your partner, your families, and your friends. I would decide how important it is that your guests dress a certain way before indicating it formally in any wedding communication. You way decide it isn't that important after all, and pictures of your family being joyful in their shorts is perfectly OK. If is is really important to you, it is your wedding. I'd try to tastefully communicate that your dessert party is still "dressy". Business casual is a baffling concept to most people-I check an etiquette book for an alternate term.

Hi, you may get more replies if you post this to the main wedding board. Many people have family members dress in the same clothes they wore to the ceremony for the DP. I just look at several trip reports and many people stayed in their formal or dressy attire. I understand your daughters concern, I feel the same way. But tell her to think of the weather. The men can take off their coats and maybe the women can wear sundresses. It will be hot.

September can still be kinda warm in the evening and asking people to wear business casual at a DP might make them too uncomfortable. Could she not compromise on "Resort Casual". Sorry but for me having my guests being able to relax, have fun and enjoy themselves was much more important than how they looked for photo's. Most of the photo's at a DP are of the couple with the fireworks and not of the guests - it's only for an hour to an hour and a half at most.
