Maybe Kerry supported the war because he bought the "clear and present danger" argument. Now that's been shown to be false, a lot of people who initially supported the war are now asking questions.Originally posted by HANDYMOM
George Bush (Sr) and Bob Dole were also war heros and the ever-useless fmr president Clinton discounted their contribution any way he could. This is a typical liberal tactic.
BTW Kerry is VERY vocal about not supporting our efforts in Iraq. He rarely even mentions the human beings there doing our bidding. It's also easy to forget that our (and your) soldiers have families and it's hardly supportive to continually discount their jobs, when their jobs involve such peril.
Since you have such interest in this topic, why haven't you commented on the fact that Kerry was completely for the war effort at it's onset? I know you're in England and I don't really know how your political set up works, but here it takes a vote of Congress to go to war. Kerry vocally supported President Bush's motivation and determination to erradicate the Saddam regime and Al Quaeda (sp?)
I doubt that Kerry has ever discounted the jobs being done by your armed forces. Maybe you can give me some of his quotes to prove me wrong. It's also easy to forget that our (and your) soldiers have families and it's hardly supportive to continually discount their jobs, when their jobs involve such peril.

Yes, but that's "too literal."
>>I'm originally from Massachusetts. I hope others clue-in to the danger Senator Kerry presents for this nation before the election<<
Handy, we share that experience in common. I lived in Brookline (talk about limousine liberal-ville, I was only there because I got a killer deal on an apartment) all through the (ugh) Dukakis era.
Even that far back Kerry (who was appended to Dukakis as lieutenant governor) was establishing himself as an unpopular elitist. May the photo below remind all of those horrific days, and what the seeds of the Kerry mindset really are:

Left to right: Michael "Tank Man" Dukakis, Kitty "he-drove-me-to-drink-cleaning-fluid" Dukakis and Lt. Governor Herman Munster, who is attempting to retain his unbridled enthusiasm as his boss announces his run for the White House.

Next President?
Very eloquently put. I can't argue with that.Originally posted by HANDYMOM
I actually haven't written down any quotes. I do listen to the news and Mr. Kerry is always on air putting his foot in his mouth.
He was slammed on talk radio recently for comments about soldiers needing to consider the morality of their task in Iraq.
Kerry is just a waffler, who changes his stance according to who he's speaking to. We'll see how supportive of the military the military finds him come November. Our awesome military personnel have a significant role in electing our presidents since they are usually concentrated in key states. We'll see how they feel.
As much as I'm intrigued by your posts, they are a bit inappropriate since you are a U.K. resident. Not being in the midst of it definately keeps you from seeing and hearing all of the laughable mess that is Senator Kerry (a.k.a. Herman Munster)

I'd like to add (unless I've already missed this one, but wow, this is a conservative board!) :

Just because someone doesn't support the war, doesn't mean they don't support the forces fighting that war. I've not supported this war for one single minute, but I support every one of our armed forces who are out there and I'm sure Kerry does as well.
More or less, yes. The armed forces have no say in what they are required to do, politicians decide that. I support our armed forces 100% in everything they do in Iraq. That doesn't mean I have to support the reason they were sent.Originally posted by emmagata
That's a nice trick. How do you do that? Tell someone that you don't support what they are doing but support them for doing it.
