Describe a scene from a movie that left you gasping!

At the end of Titanic when they show the lifeless mother floating in the water holding her baby. It just gave me chills.

Lawrence Of Arabia,
when the detonator explodes.... and what happens after..... if you've seen the movie..you know which scene.

The scene in the first "Aliens" movie when the alien rips out of his chest for the very first time. Yikes!!!!

Satine's death in Moulin Rouge

The entire Come What May number

The can-can

Christian and Satine's duet atop the elephant

I always recall the wierdest scenes... I still place the scene in Aliens (II) where Sigourney Weaver comes out in that robotic loader and confronts the mama/alien ("Leave her alone, you B**ch!!") as near the top for me.... But Gandalf falling into the bowels of Lower Earth battling that demon with his sword to start the latest Rings movie (enabling him to become a 'white' wizard) was pretty kewl also....

It was about some astronauts, and one of them is outside the Ship trying to fix something, and his "life-line" gets stretched too far, and he floats off into space. I think I was 12 at the time, I don't remember, but think of that scene often.....

That scene creeped me out too.....I still vividly remember that movie......I was 9 or 10 and I really was too young for it.

Is anyone old enough to remember the movie that this scene was plagerized from..?.. Does a computer named H.A.L. ring any bells?

"Sophie's Choice"

When they finally showed her choice. I was horrified at the whole scene---and to think it probably happened:( :(

OH SOOOOO MANY,,,but the lastest was in DRAGON FLY,,,,,
when Kevin Costnor (SP) goes to the jungle to find where his wife died, because he kept thinking she was alive still,,,and finds their baby (THIS IS WHAT SHE WAS TRYING TO TELL HIM FROM THE OTHER SIDE,that the baby was born and was there) OHHHH when I saw that baby I cried like one...

and yes yes yes ANYTHING in the Thornbird series with Father Ralph--RICHARD CHAMBERLIN==thump thump thump

:earseek: :earseek:

HOW did I forget that???? What a scene!! It reminds me of childbirth!!!

Also, WillyJ, I meant to mention the scene when Joe Pesci FINALLY gets it in Goodfellas, but I figured the Godfather theme was enough!!

Speaking of mob movies, when Michael had his brother killed in the first Godfather was a :earseek: moment, too!! WOW!

A lot of great ones posted here!

Not a scary gasp - but a realization gasp (like yours in The Crying game, Snoops) - Presume Innocent, when it all comes together.

The Omen - when little Damien turns and smiles....

Ratsrule - That scene in Private Ryan is absolutely heart-wrenching...

I'd just to like to say that this is a really interesting thread! Many of these made me gasp too.

I watched Cape Fear up until the moment when DeNiro bit the woman's face. I thought that there are enough sickos out there that they don't need movies giving them additional ideas.

The Green Mile - The part where it is revealed that James Coffey
didn't kill those girls and who actually DID! I always knew it wasn't James but to find out the guy who did it was actually in the same jailhouse...wow

In "Debbie Does Dallas" when she....uh....oh...nevermind... :smooth:

LOL!

My last gasp was at "Chicago" when Catherine Zeta Jones did a dance move that had her straddling a chair and then slamming down onto it. You'll know exactly what I mean when you see it. She said she was black and blue for weeks after filming that scene. I flinched just watching her!

And now I have tears in my eyes remembering "Sophie's Choice."

It didn't make me gasp, but the most enlightening/empowering scene I've ever seen was in Drop Dead Fred. At the end of the movie, in the dream sequence, when the mother pops up in front of Phoebe Cates and Phoebe says "You can't hurt me. I'm not afraid of you anymore". I've got tears just thinking about it. What a tremendous movie. Anyone who had an abusive parent should see this flick!

One of my favorite movies...Shawshank Redemption. The rock going through the poster!!!

Oh, yeah! That WAS great!

Also, when I was a teen, and the movie "Wait Until Dark" was in the theatres. The end part where Audrey Hepburn (who was blind in the movie) walked by Richard Crenna's body on the floor and you (and she) thought he was dead, and he grabbed her ankle!

I SCREAMED out loud in the theatre! Then, I had to walk home from the movie theatre (with friends) in the DARK! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
