Describe a scene from a movie that left you gasping!

How about The Shining when the little boy is Big Wheeling through the halls and the two little girls are standing at the end of the hall.   *GIANT GASP*

Hahaha! Carrie! I was about 18 years old and the man sitting next to me in the theater was about 30. When the hand came up, he flew to a standing position. At the same time he was screaming, "Whooooooooooo." I guess the hand thing didn't scare me too much because I was too busy laughing at him.  :o :o

But I was *gasping* when Carrie killed her mother! *GASP* That was freaky!

There are many ways to gasp. Exactly which emotion of gasping should I post about?;)

Three films

Two horror one drama

Horror---both had Jeremy Irons

M Butterfly---the scene at the end where he slits his throat

The other I can't remember the name, but the film where he plays twin doctors---gynecologist---and he does this horrible scen at the end where one brother kills the other brother with all the morbid instruments

The other was Schindler's List---the best film I have EVER scene---so many scenes--the boy hiding in the toilet in the humam waste, the scene with the little girl in the red coat, where he waters down the train cars, the walk made of tombstones, where he cries at the end when he is leaving and he starts with if he would have not spent his money on each item, maybe he would have been able to save more people, how Ben Kingsley's character comforts him, and then finally the scene where the actors are accompaning the real life people to Schindler grave---i

t is funny because I am definitly a child of the 60's, 70's and 80's---grew up with color tv and films, and almost hated black and white, and I ABSOLUTLY cannot imagine seeing Schindler List filmed in anything else---to me that is a true credit to the filmaker and actors

The Godfather when the horse's head was in the bed AND when they killed Sonny... I weeped and weeped, I LOVED Santino!

The opening scene of Jaws

The last scene of Sixth Sense

The funeral scene of Steel Magnolias... I thought someone had read my mind!!

It was about some astronauts, and one of them is outside the Ship trying to fix something, and his "life-line" gets stretched too far, and he floats off into space.  I think I was 12 at the time, I don't remember, but think of that scene often.....

That scene creeped me out too.....I still vividly remember that movie......I was 9 or 10 and I really was too young for it.

I also still have flashbacks of seeing Carrie.......it was winter when I saw it and while I was driving home I kept picturing hands shooting out of snowbanks.

Brave Heart when they slit his wife's throat!...Ugh...couldn't watch it after that!

The scene in Jaws where the corpse appears in the hole in the sunken ship.

I saw in the Making of Jaws that that scene was filmed in a swiming pool after the whole movie was shot.. one of the best gasps around!

My first gasp..... was seeing my first naked man... Richard Greer in American Gigillo....... ACK..... that is what they look like???? ( I was 13 at the time and in a hotel room in NYC with my father, who happened to be in the shower at the time)

Father Ralph and Meggie on the beach. (sigh)

I loved that movie, I just spent an entire Saturday watching the whole thing a couple of weeks ago. I can't believe it's been 20 years since it first came out.

There's a scene in A Clockwork Orange that I wish I wouldn't have seen, that movie gives me the chills.

In "Debbie Does Dallas" when she....uh....oh...nevermind... :smooth:

I never made it past the first 15 minutes of that film.......

Interesting topic Blondie!! :) :)

Most of mine have been mentioned: The little girls in"The Shining"; the head floating by in "Jaws"; the hand from the grave in "Carrie".. .

One I can add is when Joe Pesci gets whacked in "Goodfellas". . totally unexpected!! :o

:)

I love the whole Thorn Birds movie but that scene on the beach is definitely romantic and there's a part that I've seen in Thorn Birds:The Missing Years where Meggie is watching Ralph's train go away from a hillside and he sees her and they wave good-bye that gets me close to crying almost every time.

The scene in The Crying Game when you finally understand what is going on. (anyone who has seen this movie knows what I am talking about, I won't spoil it for those who haven't)

The scene in Deliverance when Ned Beatty is made to squeal like a pig.

The very last scene in The Godfather II when the camera focuses on Michael Corelone - and you all you see is that beautiful, corrupted face. Very powerful.

when the reporter goes upstairs and he thinks he is talking to Mrs. Bates and he puts his hand on her shoulder and the corpse turns around and I let out a blood curdling scream so bad and the tears ran down my cheek from fright............Jaws ......I love jaws and I watch it every time it is one and I have the two Anniversary Edition....well that scene where the body comes up to the sunken boat window.......I still jump out of my chair......The Birds is another one.......I had to go by myself to see that one and when I came outdoors......the big black crows were over head and they made their noise and I screamed out loud in my own home town......that freaks me out....

In the Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship of the Ring when Gandalf confronts the Balrog on the bridge.
He slams his staff on the bridge and screams "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!". I'm still bitter that Ian McKellan did not get the Oscar.

How about this one....in the movie Twister when the father gets sucked up through the storm cellar's doors!

This is great!!

I don't want to ruin the movie for others but how about "The Others"? I thought I knew what was going on with the 3 people...

One of my favorite movies...Shawshank Redemption. The rock going through the poster!!!

Most of Saving Private Ryan .

One haunting scene was a hand to hand struggle between a GI and a German soldier in an upstairs room.

If you saw the movie I think you know what I am talking about.
