Derek Jeter 3000!!!!!!!!

When I posted this was on the Disney Rumors board, not the community board. 3000 hits is an awesome accomplishment and of all of the Yankees I hate Jeter the least.

I understand that now. I didn't realize it when I posted the comment. You were right to feel that way when it wasn't on the Community Board.

In other news:

The Boston Red Sox are going to win the world series....making 3 in 8 years and at roughly 65% of the salary expenditure that the new york yankees have spent during that period....

feel free to discuss:cool1:

They may have a smaller payroll than the Yanks, but it's still leaps and bounds above everyone else. In a world of "haves" and "have-nots", they are without a doubt a "have".

Derek Jeter has done something amazing and you can't respect that, instead you have to bring up about how the Red Sox are going to win (your opinion) and how the Yankees spend so much. Red Sox fans are so hypocritical when they say the Yanks spend too much because the Red Sox spend too much. The name Carl Crawford from this past offseason ring a bell?

And the Red Sox are not going to win the world series. First, the teams that are favored to win it almost never win it (I remember the Sox being heavily favore in 2009, what happened that year?). Second, because they do have their flaws this year. The pitching staff is getting more and more injuried and I dont think their lineup will be able to stand up to playoff pitching. They aren't even guarenteed to win the east yet let alone the world series.

I have been a Derek Jeter fan my whole life and I am so happy that I have been able to grow up in a generation where there is an idol like Jeter around. Jeter is truly a class act in everything he does and that shows here by how many fans of other teams adore him.

Derek Jeter you just were named and all star and will collect the $500,000 for being named an all star...what ya gonna do?

"sit out the game"

Also the guy that returned the ball to him now owes some $14,000 in taxes from all the gifts he received... no good deed

I hardly think the guy from "Joisey" who brought that up is a Red Sox fan.

Methinks he was just :stir:

If only we celebrated the successes of our real heroes in such a manner. Jeter seems to be a great guy, but he plays a boy's game for a living. Not a single life is improved for his efforts on the diamond.

So, hurray Derek Jeter! Now, time to turn the page...

Congratulations to Jeter and to his fans! As a lifelong Astros fan I know how exciting it is to see one of your players enter such an exclusive club :thumbsup2

ETA: I thought it was interesting that Jeter and Biggio, the last two players to get to 3000 both had five hits in those games were they got #3000

Maybe he didn't run into a burning building, go to Afghanstan or cure cancer, but he & others like him can make people feel a little better by bringing a little joy in their lives. And what's wrong with that?

I was happy to see Derek reach this milestone in front of the home fans. I am a little disappointed he choose not to go to Arizona. I understand why he may not want to play in the game, but it would have been nice to wave to the fans who voted him in even though he isn't having an All Star season. Derek is usually a class act, but I think he fell a little short with this.

Nothing wrong with it, but no more worthy of celebration than the teacher who helps a struggling student, IMO.

Sorry, but I can't let this pass. You're right -- BUT both your username and sig celebrate the success of a boy's game with every post you make.

By all means, celebrate it -- but don't call out others for celebrating their own games.

You might be right but I don't think he can't be a Red Sox fan just because of where he is from. Im from NY and I know a lot of Sox fans that were born and raised here!

Ok, so we won't celebrate Alabama football either;)

The thing about it for me is Derek and all the other guys on the Yankees help me escape reality. Sometimes when Im having a bad day its nice to be able to relax and enjoy the Yankees.

And I think we do celebrate the successes of real heros in such a matter.

That is my way of letting people know a little about me.

True since we're actually Yankee fans. (DS and I, anyway, lol - though our first love is the Sox.)

But I still think it was :stir: Why else would someone make such an outrageous statement on a thread like this and then leave it with "discuss"?

Life long Red Sox fan here adding my congrats to Derek Jeter. I love the game and have enjoyed watching him over the years, he is a fantastic player. And it was very cool how he went 5/5 that night, just can't help being happy for him. :)
