Depression....

To the OP ... I notice on your signature that you are going to WDW in less than a month. Perhaps you can use that trip to do several things ...

  • If your resort or hotel has a gym, you can get up a bit earlier and do a short workout before you go to the parks. Since you'll be walking around the parks alot, you can also use that for exercise.
  • Make it a point to make smart, healthy food choices while you're on your trip. I know vacations are supposed to be for indulging, but sometimes it's easier to make a change when you're not on "home turf."
  • Clearly, you're a Disney fan ... so use that to introduce yourself to people in line, or talk to CMs, or meet people in the parks. You're not going to forge life-long friendships during vacation (probably), but you can get a lot of practice meeting people and enjoying talking to people who have similar interests.
  • You will not be able to change your mother -- how she perceives things, what she says, how she behaves. You can, however, change how you react to it. When my grandmother used to go on and on about me not having a boyfriend or being overweight, I would listen and then, when she was done, say, "OK Grandma ... thanks!" And then I'd just move on and do what I thought was best anyway. :thumbsup2 I knew that her words and thoughts were coming from a helpful place, even if she wasn't able to communicate it that way. So I said thank you and moved forward.
  • Then .... when you get back from your trip .... find a volunteer position that you enjoy. Say ... a couple of hours a week at the animal shelter or the library. Usher for theater and music performances. Learn to be a docent at an art gallery. Volunteer for a political campaign. Find something to do that you enjoy that will give you a reason to get out of bed and will help someone who needs you. You'll meet new people with common interests, help out an organization that needs it, get out of the house, and maybe even find a new career! You'd be surprised how much fun it can be and where it can lead.

Good luck!
:earsboy:

Thank you for all your help. :)
I have been feeling better these past few days but still working on stuff my own. I did volunteer at a counsoling facility but it made me more :( because of the sad stories that the kids have.

I am looking forward to Disney in the fact that i"m going. lol.
I am trying to make a list of things I want to do this trip that i didn't do the past 5-6 trips such as:

1.) Go On Space Mountain.
I can do Everest, Splash Mt, BTMRR, Aerosmith, ToT (if that counts as a thrill ride), but I seem to chicken out when it comes to Space Mountain. Lol.
2.) Be in more pictures with characters
I love taking pictures of characters by themselves but I am in none of them. One thing that is different this is, that i'm loosing weight (down 18-19 pounds). Go Me! :))
3. Try new snacks at Disney
Such as Dole Whips. I heard about Dole Whips from WDWTODAY and pictures but i never tried one. lol. I also got new reservations at new restaurants this year. Branching out. lol.
4.) Take more pictures of things.
I do take pictures of stuff but not a whole lot. I was more intreaged with going on attractions but never really took any pictures when standing in line or on the ride itself.
5.) Decorate the Hotel Room.
Pop Century is my home away home. I might try to find cheap Disney Magnets for $1.00 to put on the door on the outside. Only cheap ones because myself usually tends to "disappear" lol.

Anyway, I also try to give to others to feel like I'm at disney. Just yesterday I got a coupon for a free small popcorn at AMC theatres. I kind of love the popcorn even though it has like 1,500 calories but being on a diet i decided to give it to the lady in the back of me. :) I felt really good about it.

Other then that, I have to start to think differently. That's one of the reasons why i am so depressed these days. I love my mom and we get along great especially at Disney. :). It's just that I dont always agree with her on things.

News: my grandma is in the hospital with a broken hip. It's a sad coincidence because she broke her leg and hip last year around this time when she fell down the stairs. :scared1: . She will be going to rehab on Thursday. Please keep her in your prayers. This time someone at her nursing home fell on her.
:(.

from one fluffy girl to another...

i'm glad you're feeling better. i've dealt with depression in the past and it's not fun. i felt myself getting back into that funk right before summer started; but with the right meds and someone to talk to, things are working themselves out.

if i knew what part of jersey you were in, i'd drive up there and smack yo momma silly! being overweight has nothing to do with making friends! a true friend loves you for who you are, not what you look like.

and btw... there are plenty of men out there who prefer those of us with a little meat on our bones. who wants a bag of sticks, right? ;)

if you need to talk, pm me. :grouphug:

Hey guys. I'm back. :)
I have begun to feel like me again... me as in :).
the 5-htp is working and i haven't had a lot on my mind any more.
I want to thank you guys for helping and giving me advice. :)
