I sometimes wonder if the urge for more babies is simply something that's inside us as humans, a primal thing that keeps the race going.
We have a boy and girl, and think we're done. We could probably have more, and I've wanted more until recently, but never really want to commit to trying and starting over. So, I'm going to get the Mirena put in; not completely permanent, but a good choice for now.
Anyway, OP, I hope things get better for you. It sounds like you made a good choice for your family. At this point, I'm looking forward to when my BIL or sister have kids of their own so I can babysit.
