Hi All,

I am thoroughly depressed and disgusted with myself. :sad1: We just got back from our trip to Hershey and Hershey Park. We went with another couple who could care less about eating anything but cheeseburgers and pizza. I ate so much garbage this weekend, I can barely think about it without getting upset.

I lost fifteen pounds since joining WISH and I am so unmotivated and bummed out right now because of everything. My boyfriend said it is impossible to gain it all back in a weekend, but I still feel like a failure.

Please send encouragement, pixie dust, and honest thoughts. I can barely think about getting enough courage to go on the scale tomorrow morning.

First of all Nikki  Don't worry about what you ate over the weekend, it's in the past there is nothing that you can do about what you ate, you can however start with a clean slate today! If you have put any weight on it will only be water weight, so if you get back OP today and drink plenty of water I'm sure that any weight gain will be right back off in a couple of days.

There will always be times when we don't eat as well as we know that we should. I think that the trick is to change our lifestyles, so that we can incorporate these times into a healthy lifestyle, and not freak out when we have a day or two eating something that we know is not too healthy for us.

I hope that you had a brilliant trip and have some great memories! :flower:

Here's some PD :wizard: ****** for a great cheat free day!!!

Don't give up!!! Going on a trip and eating things we 'shouldn't' is what normal healthy people do! The difference between someone without food issues is that when they are done, they move on and continue doing what is good for them. This is something I really struggle with, but when I think about it this way, it really helps. You still have to live life. Things will happen, but you ARE going to lose the weight. Get on the scale-it may not be as bad as you think. If it is, that's ok too! Also, something I heard Gayle King say(Oprah's friend), is that when you gain weight quickly over a weekend or something, it also comes off very quickly. Don't be discouraged.

Nikki,

Congrats! You had a great learning experience. Write it down, solidify it for the future.

Eating crap just because your on vacation = misery, period.

Get right back on track, drink tons of water and you'll be feeling better in no time. Plus, next time the same sort of situation arises, you'll know what not to do. Plan ahead, make sure you have some healthy snacks with you just incase there's nothing but cheese burgers available and you'll be good to go!!!!!!

Most of what you gained is water. Get back to the basics and it will come off. Honest!

Sunny

Come on, Nikki, don't let a weekend of fun with friends derail your efforts. That is real life stuff that we all have to learn to cope with. We can't beat ourselves up over what is in the past. We can just learn from it. So, make yourself feel better by having a good food day today. And just think -- you certainly got plenty of exercise over the weekend with all the walking around the park, so take some comfort from that.

And be sure to come back and let us all know you are doing okay. You've already lost 15 pounds on WISH, so you know that you know how to succeed. Just get back to doing what worked for you. :grouphug:

I've got to copy that down! That is so true. If you watch how "healthy" people eat they do allow themselves the treat at birthday parties, or weekends etc. The difference is they don't use it as an excuse to go wild all week, all month, all year. I have heard so often about eating healthy 90 percent of the time and "my choice" 10 percent of the time. The problem for me is that 10 percent stretches to 30-40-50-60 and on. I remember a friend in college who lost a lot of weight. He would allow himself one dessert a week - on Sunday. That was it. It did not matter if there was a party on Friday and we would pressure him to eat something. He knew his boundaries and he stuck to them and he looked great. So I think we/I need to set boundaries when I look at social occasions. We all have them.

Don't be discouraged. Drink a lot of water this week and watch the excess sodium, sugar, white flour, etc effects wash away! Just get back on your plan. One weekend is not enough to derail you.

You have the same problem I have, and it is so hard for me to overcome. I know that I don't have to be perfect in my diet/lifestyle change, but I can't seem to accept that--if I don't do it perfectly then there is no sense in doing it at all. When you see it written out, it makes no sense, but in my heart and my head, I still expect to be perfect.

Here's my favorite quote: The single most important ingredient for LONGTERM success is not the determination to start, but the ability to start again.

You can do this--it doesn't have to be perfect.

Hey, girl!

Welcome back! :)

You may want to check out the 150 club...I'm a member! :)

I post a quote of the week...ironically, this is this week's quote:
"Waste no tears over the grief of yesterday." - Euripides

Yeah, the quote may sound a little different, but I think it speaks to me not to dwell on the past...what's done is done and we can only move on!

WOW! been there done that so many times.............
and you know that the hardest part is getting back on track which you seem to be ready to do!
Forget it........... its done with. start again get back in the groove!
What I do after a weekend like that is I do even get back on the scale! I just start again and get back on the scle when I am ready!

We have all been there your gonna be fine, just know its in the past and nothing you can do to change it except perhaps journal how your feeling now and remember it so you can learn from it.

I am like you - lose my mind on vacation! After my last vacation, I made a mental note to not do that again. I wrote how miserable I felt in my journal and next time I go on vacation, I am going to read through that for some motivation to not totally go off the deep end!

The past is the past, and you cannot change it. The key is to start fresh and get on with whatever you are doing. Drink tons of water, knock up the intensity of your workouts for the week and that vacation weight will come off in no time. It's OK to splurge - just plan for it and enjoy it and don't feel guilty about it! And the next day get back to your healthy routine. It will get easier to do that as time goes on. Hang in there, whatever you do, don't give up! :grouphug:

Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

Today was not a good day either. :( I am praying I can get back on track!!!!!

Dont beat yourself up.. I mean that..
I just hit Lifetime at WW last night.. 135lbs Gone. People around the room asked me how I did it this time, after Failing SOO many and I mean SOO Many times before..
And I told them.. I really think the 2 things that helped me so much, was Forgiving myself.. I went to Disney, gained 9lbs, Xmas, Gained 2lbs, Camping, gained 4lbs, etc.. I realize that people with NO weight problems, gain weight while on vacation, on the hoildays, So why beat myself up for it too.. It will come off again... And time passes by anyway.. I was complaining last year about loosing so much weight, but still having SOO Far to go, and my nephew said to me, so your not at goal this summer, you will be there next summer.. And it clicked to me, Time is going to pass if I eating the right foods, or the bad ones..
So please dont feel bad.. Just end your vacation, and start over.
And feel good about loosing those 15lbs! You worked for them!
