I have been watching the flights going out of Denver for December 8th for several months now. They don't seem to budge much from the $300-350 mark going into MCO. In your opinion and for those that are knowledgable on prices---should I buy now, or do you think the prices will drop? We love frontier but their flight times are not where we would like them to be, so right now us air has the cheapest tickets at $300. What would you do??? We are buying for 4 so want the best deal, but also don't want to shoot myself in the foot.:confused3

In my opinion those prices are WAY too high. I would definately wait. I prefer Frontier too but if Southwest can beat them on price I'll book SW.
Good luck!

Once SW opens up its schedule for that time, the prices should drop for all airlines. No guarantees but that has been my experience.

But, Frontier seems to always be highest compared with SW and United. I really love Frontier but I chuckle when I see their commercials about being the "favorite low cost airline."

problem being is that most airlines have a group of seats
that are priced low and once those fill up the price is higher ( the whole supply and demand thing)
anyway... Frontier IS the best airline out of Denver and people know it so.... the prices are higher because their
planes fill up-

I hate United and hearing how well Frontier does just makes me want to  :cool1: :dance3: :rotfl2:

Except, when airlines have a sale, most other airlines match it, even Frontier but you have to be quick on the draw. That is why SW is very healthy for the Denver market.

OP, US Airways has non-stops for $242 right now. Still more than I would pay - $99 each way is my limit now that we have SW, LOL. How patient can you afford to be? It might be awhile before SW opens up their schedule.

the USAir non-stop you are talking about is actually
operated by TED.
You might want to start a thread asking when people think
SW will be opening up those dates you are looking for.
So many people here fly them I bet you will get your answer.

Not sure why it matters. :confused3 I was just trying to help the OP who didn't specify which airline she wanted to fly or if she had a preference, I'm sorry that you don't like my advice but I think it could be helpful to HER.

Again, OP, there is a thread in this forum in which someone collected the dates that SW has historically released their booking dates. If I get a chance, I will look for it and bump it up.

your advice is fine.. no worries :)
just thought folks might want to know that it says USAir but is really TED-

Thank you all, I was not aware that us air is run by TED--that is helpful!!

it's not necessarily run by TED but they do a 'codeshare'
not really a big deal though...

If flying out of Denver your non-stops are with
Southwest, Frontier and TED.

all other airlines will be a connection- you can go to Orlando
out of Denver on USAir but will most likely connect through
Charlotte or Pittsburgh.

Princesdi,

I am also from Denver and faced the exact same thing that you see now - but we are going in July - I kept waiting for Southwest to release their next set of reservations for my July trip and was able to get roundtrip tickets - direct flights on Southwest - for $216 a person - a great deal for the middle of summer!!! Since Southwest was not booking my dates - I litterally checked two times daily at work and got my tickets within hours of those prices being released - turns out that I even checked a week or two after - and they still had seats - so if you were to check once a day - you will probably be fine! Good Luck,
