dentists who take payment plans

Does anyone know of a decent dentist in MA that takes payment plans? I have about $4000 in savings and the work I will need done will run around $8000. I have completely worthless insurance through work that covers 80% up to the first $1200. I don’t want to put it off or lose my teeth. I will need a root canal and all the nonsense that goes with that as well as a replacement tooth. From what my dentist told me, I’m looking at around $8K.

I’m checking all these places now and none of them have any no or low interest payment plan. Most want to be paid up front (I don’t blame them for that, but come on…)

I could withdraw my entire savings but I still need to come up with about ½ of it.

I've looked into Dental Plans dot com but I'm not sure if that will be any better than my current insurance.

yes, not sure where you are in Mass, but Cabot Dental on Cabot street in Beverly does this. I have done it, when my insurance does not cover, but I have had friends call who have never been there and they ended up doing a payment plan.

Have you tried a dental school/college? They sometimes do work at a reduced cost.

also try carecredit.com. They have thousands of docs/dentists/vets that take this. Basically it is a health credit card, but you can only use it for medical expenses. My dentist uses this for when people need payment plans.

There are three of the best dental schools in MA...Tufts, Boston Univ, and Harvard.

A lot of dentists have a "credit card" plan that you can hook up with....allows you to pay in installments but they get their money. Remember that they are providing a service that can't be "repo'ed" and as such deserve payment. Most people think nothing of paying a contractor but balk at a medical/dental professional. Not you, OP, just in general.

I have a Care Credit card, got it once during a vet emergency. Never want to use that thing again. I prefer not to use credit cards.

I am going to go the dental school route. Found 3 in Boston that see patients.

Just remember that a dental school will take MUCH longer to get work done. Many many appointments. You will get great, well-supervised, state of the art care, but it will take forever.

DH is a dentist...I remember those days!
