dental question, any dentists on board?

Significant other's tooth was grinded down and then his filling fell out of that tooth and now they say he needs a crown. We don't have 1200.00 for a crown and I was wondering if we don't get a crown what is the worst that can happen. We don't have any dental teaching places around here so that is out of the question. Either we pay or he don't get it done.

I guess it depends on what you consider the worst case scenario to be. Worst case health-wise, the tooth breaks off more and he needs an extraction. Worst case financially, the tooth gets an abscess and needs a root canal to go along with that crown. If crowns where you are cost $1200 then root canals will likely be more than that $1500 maybe?!

Why don't you have him explain his financial situation to the dentist and ask them if it's possible to have a build up done, which may require a post or pins. That option, if possible may cost $300 or so and can get you by for a while so he can save money to have the crown done.
