Sorry I took so long for response, I had the stomach bug..............

Your teeth look BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 So are you happy with them so far?

I am hearing that more and more. I am at a standstill right now with the process. My dentist and oral surgeon are working on a pre-authorization to submit to my MEDICAL insurance to see if they can get them to pay for the procedure or at least SOME because my problem is caused by a medical condition. Hoping and praying this works out.

Good luck! We have had mixed success submitting work to medical insurance. Unfortunately, it seems that lately the insurance companies are just paying less and less. If you get a denial on your pre-auth, you can appeal with a letter from your dentist, oral surgeon and your medical doctor saying why this is medically necessary. That sometimes works. Don't just give up.

yeah im happier today than i was when i got them done because i thought they looked too big... these are still the temps but its the best money i have ever spent IMO!!! here are more pics

WOW....They look amazing now, I can only imagine what the final work will be like :) So happy to hear a positive story. Please post pics when you get all done as well!

Some of us can't get implants. I have chronic gum disease that continually gets worse no matter what I do so there is nowhere to implant anything. I've heard that some dentists are working on a procedure that involves injecting a material that can hold teeth but I can't begin to imagine how expensive that is!

It looks like I'll be dealing with dentures. Why does dental care have to be so expensive?!!! :( I feel for those of you paying these ridiculous fees.

Thanks! I will. THis is the first day I went out of the house with them and i had so many ppl tell me they could see a difference in my personality already!

I would suggest checking out dentalplans.com. You can search for available discount plans and compare. Then I'd check with the dental office to see how a discount plan would work into the cost of your treatment plan - I used to be a dental office manager and some discount plans saved some patients quite a lot if money!

Today is the big day!!!! I go to my appointment at 2 for my veneers... I am soooo excited!!! I also booked our flight to Orlando!!!! Not home yet lol but the way there because the flight we wanted only had 2 complete rows left :scared1: and i was afraid it wouldnt be available in a couple weeks... it was the only daytime nonstop flight and $80 from BWI to MCO isnt bad :woohoo: lol so teeth here i come and disney here i come lol :rotfl:

Wow, you are having a great day! Any day you book a flight to Disney is a good day though! I can't wait to see the final pictures! Good luck :):goodvibes:goodvibes:cool1::cool1:

I am still in the waiting process with my insurance. Hopefully I will find out next week if my medical insurance will cover a portion of the procedure due to my procedure being the result of a medical condition.... Fingers, legs, eyes, everything crossed hoping they cover SOMETHING.

I am almost to a point where I am going to have to have it done, regardless if I hear from the medical company. The gum around the post has torn and it is very sore. My denture isn't fitting properly so I have several sore spots now from rubbing. I am constantly taking them in and out and cleaning/rinsing my mouth because of a terrible taste I am getting from the post site area. Ughhhhhhhhhhh.... I just want to get this over with.

Soon, hopefully soon :)

aww i am so sorry hun! Hopefully u will find something out soon! I am back from the dentist...another 3 hour appointment. I will post pics 2morrow as i am tired... The dentist informed me i will now b wearing a night guard every night for possible grinding of my teeth/TMJ? I dont know...my jaw tightens at night sometimes and i grind my teeth? I know i put pressure on my teeth with my jaw tightening. Anything to save my teeth is worth it. I like them so far though....only had them for a couple hours and still taste the horrible glue or chemical stuff yuck!!! But stay tuned for post opp pics!!! :yay: :woohoo:

I haven't read through all of the posts, but just wanted to chime in and tell the OP good luck with everything!

I had an implant done about 2 yrs ago on one of my front top teeth, ah the memories! I spent about $6k total for the implant, abutment, and crown. I would have preferred a trip to Europe, but hey, I guess a front tooth is pretty cool too!

I am terrified of needles, blood, etc & was pretty wound up about having to have my tooth pulled & gum cut open & jaw bone drilled into. But it really wasn't a big deal, I had valium the night before and morning of & the worst part was getting the IV in. I didn't feel a thing during the surgery & had pretty much no pain afterwards. I had filled the pain meds perscription ahead of time but never took any of them.

Good luck getting some insurance help. Mine would not contribute even one penny - the turds. :)

anyhow- best wishes to you with your dental situations!! hugs!

nashville_minnie: Thank you very much. Your words were very comforting. Especially "pretty much no pain afterwards" :thumbsup2

In the end it will be worth it.

mommyof3princess27: TMJ you have also??? lol it never ends it seems... I am so glad you like the finished work! And I am with you on that nasty glue/adhesive stuff they use. It takes forever to get rid of that!

Cant wait to see pics!

Update: Haven't heard anything from medical insurance yet but I made my appointment anyways. Either way it has to be done and I don't want to be sore for our vacation in April. So Tuesday, March 11th at 8:30 am I am going under.......Glad when this is over. I will be sure to report when this is over for anyone going thru this in the future.....

Wish me luck, I can use all the pixie dust I can get.....

Thanks to all you commented on this thread, it helps to talk about the things that worry us and this has really helped a great deal. :lovestruc

I just had to post on this thread. I found out three weeks ago the old root canal I had on my top front tooth was failing and I would need to get an implant. Two weeks ago today I had the extraction and bone graft and I am now playing the waiting game until I can get the implant. The Dr. figures I will get the implant in early June and then I will get my permanent tooth around Oct. I hate anything in my mouth and my stupid retainer is driving me nuts already. It just takes soooo long for this process and I am really getting depressed about it. Reading this thread is helping a bit, knowing that there are other disboarders who are going thru this or have gone thru it and they feel it was worth it.

Hello! I just had an implant done on Tuesday and it was so easy that I wish I would have done it sooner. I had a problem with my one front tooth. I had an extra tooth between my baby tooth and the primary one so the baby tooth never fell out. When I was around 6 or 7 I had to go into the hospital and have both the baby tooth and extra tooth removed. The primary one never came out properly so I had this horrible fake tooth cemented to the primary one. It was in the 70's and the dental field at that time wasn't advanced as it is today. It would always come off. I delayed doing anything for all these years because of the cost and I was a chicken!!!! I finally got up the courage and did it. I have a wonderful dentist! It took him about an hour and a half. He pulled what was left of the primary tooth, implanted the post and put on the temporary tooth. Since the old tooth was "bonded" to the one next to it he reshaped this tooth too. Now I can smile without covering my mouth and by August when the permanent one gets places I can finally bite into an apple and eat corn on the cob!!!! I know it is very expensive---$3000----but it seems to be well worth it. I was totally amazed that I didn't have any pain and how easy it was.

Just wanted to share cause I had read these posts before I had the procedure done on Tuesday and it took some of my anxiety away.

I had my bone graft done in October and just had the implant put in last week. I just felt a little bit of pain that day, kind of like a tooth ache. It wasn't bad at all. Now is the waiting game until I get the tooth placed in 6 months.

To mapmakerj, I just wanted to give you some words of encouragement. I know how miserable that retainer is. I hated it in the beginning. I just couldn't imagine having that thing for so long. But as time has passed, I have learned to live with it. I can even chew gum now! Hang in there! You will get used to it. Sometimes I even forget to take it out at night and realize it just as I'm drifting off to sleep.

Thanks for the words of encouragment. The dentist did another adjustment to the retainer today and it doesn't feel as awful as it did before. My DH is rewarding my patience(:rotfl2:)in waiting for this to be over by letting me plan an even longer trip to WDW next summer! He now says I can plan a trip for up to three weeks! He said he hopes that makes time fly and makes me less crabby. Gotta love the guy for putting up with me(and my Disney obsession!)

okay well last night i bit down on one of my veneers wrong and well after alot of cssing it still feels wierd...called dentist cant see him til monday morning:(

Just heard from medical insurance that the pre-authorization claim for the bone graft was denied. Disappointing of course, but I didn't have high expectations that they would cover it. But I had to try.

Procedure scheduled from March 11th, but my boss is expecting his first grandchild and they just found out that they may take it c-section on Friday March 12 so I may have to re-schedule........arghh. This has been one big frustration. If I knew I the swelling wouldn't be too much to get my denture back in the next day I wouldn't change it but with my luck...

I will keep you posted how things go!

Thanks for all the positive and encouraging posts from everyone!!!!!!!!

Nik's Mom- I am getting the bone graft and implant placed all in the same day...Hope I have the same amount of pain you had :goodvibes

mommyof3princess27 - Good luck with your veneer!!!!!!!!! Let us know how you make out today at the dentist!!
