It's so simple and so yummy.
There are two of us so we take a
1/2 pound of hamburger (usually 93%ff or 96%ff) and mix it with 1Tbs. Worcestershire sauce,
2tsp. dried basil, and an
1/8 tsp. of both salt and pepper.

DH always does the mixing b/c I hate touching raw meat. :p

Then you just form patties and grill (we usually just good them on the stove. They are very juicy.

I think I need to lay off the pasta for a while.

B: Co co Wheats, ww toast, orange juice

S: handful of peanut M&Ms (need to lay off those, I already had some today--stop that!)

L: Baked penne (again!), baby carrots, ff yogurt, ff baked beans

S: King's Hawaiian roll (glad those are gone) :P

D: (planned rommantic dinner with DH) Homemade Fettuccini Alfredo, garlic/basil bread, chocolate soymilk

I spent most of the evening with DH; it was a special night. Also had a ton of grad. work to do. Squeezed in 30min. on the bike just before bed. I'll have time to workout more today; I'm really looking forward to it. This is the first time I made Fettuccini Alfredo and it's my DH favorite and he loved it (said it was better than Olive Garden and it was so simple!) I was so excited! Definitely not a healthy meal, but planned and thoroughly enjoyed. :teeth:

Denise: you did pretty good for those so called "bad foods" :) hope you have a good day today :sunny:

Thanks Court!

B: Co co Wheats, ww toast, and orange juice

S: Special K bar and a handful of peanut M&Ms (my goal for today is to not walk into the office and grab those!)

L: Turkey breast sandwich, baby carrots, ff yogurt, and lite apple sauce (made with splenda)

W: Upper body (chest, shoulders, triceps, biceps, and back), abs, and ran 3 miles with a 5 min. cool down.

D: Grilled fish, baked corn tortillas, brown rice

S: popcorn (note to self not to have any this weekend!)

Overall, I feel it was a great day! My workout felt great and I feel good this morning. Here's to another great one! :hyper:

hey denise, that romantic dinner with dh sounded absolutely wonderful. i'm glad that you guys got to enjoy such a wonderful dinner, and each other's company :) .

next time you hear the m&m's calling you, yell at them that you're not interested! "no, m&m's! go bother someone else! i'm not interested in anything you have to say!" :p sorry, i'm a bit crazy.

glad you had a great workout. i love the feeling you get afterwards, puts me at ease knowing what i just accomplished :)

hope you have another great day :sunny:

Denise, peanut M&Ms are EVIL!! They've got me hooked too! I just went to the EVM (the Evil Vending Machine) for some - fortunately, it wanted exact change and I only had a dollar bill! :p

Seriously, though, your menus seem a little light on protein - maybe you're craving the protein in the peanuts?? Can you eat the peanuts WITHOUT the chocolate and candy coating?? Just a thought....

Hope you find a way to avoid that part of the office!! :sunny:

Hi Denise -
Was just catching up on your journal. Wow! You are doing great!::yes:: All that exercise is wonderful! Good for you!

Next time the *evil* M&Ms try to get to you, drink a glass of water first. (You should make it to 72 oz of water a day no sweat then! ) Seriously, have water and wait 10 min and maybe the urge will pass.;)

good morning denise! just stopping in to say a quick hello

Doe and Sharon~Thanks for the suggestions on the M&Ms--I will defeat them! :D

Doe~I've been trying to increase my protein an my fiber intake. I did better yesterday (see below), but I'm still not sure what the best way is. I'm afraid to buy peanuts b/c I can't keep my hand out of them. I don't think I would be able to have just one small serving. Maybe I should try wheat nuts! Unfortunately, I'm pretty much bad about all kinds of nuts. Any suggestions?

Court and Marcia~Thanks for stopping by just to say hi--that was really sweet!

And a group hug :grouphug: for all of you for stopping by and being so supportive--I really appreciate it.

So here's yesterdsay:

B: 1/2 cup egg beaters, slice of ww toast, and orange juice

S: Special K bar

L: Peanutbutter (reduced fat) and Jelly (sugar free) sandwich on ww bread, baby carrots, ff yogurt

W: Legs (walking lunges 2 sets of 75, step ups w/ weight, plie' squats, calf raises 20lbs 20, 15, 15, and leg press 30 reps w/ 30 lbs) I was rushed through my leg workout b/c I had to sell tickets at the swim meet, but I got through everything in time (I only do this workout once a week).

S: apple, Special K bar

D: 1 taco w/ 96% ff beef and tomato, a bowl of Magix (Mickey was calling to me) :p with skim milk (had to test out my Lactaid and it worked!) I had cereal with milk for the first time in about 6 weeks and it was yummy! I will not make it a habit though b/c cereal is probably my biggest downfall.

I have not been keeping track of my water intake; I've just been doing my usual and that isn't enough. I will start keeping track again today so I can get back on my goal of increasing my water intake.

Have a great day everyone! :sunny:

good morning

just stopping by,just be careful with the ceral:) have a :sunny: day

hey denise, sounds like a very good leg workout you had there! i tend to just stay with the machines for my legs, lunges and squats are not my friends :p . i hate it when i feel pressed for time during my workouts, so i know how you feel.

oh, and i'm oh so glad you are working on defeating those m&ms! nuts are hard for me too. it seems like such a small amount of them equal a portion. i think a good suggestion is to take the large bag and section it out as soon as you buy it into little ziploc baggies, one serving per bag. that way, you know when to stop, plus it's easy to just grab and go. i say this like i've done it. nope, just have read other people suggesting it, and i'm going to do it with the next bag of almonds my mom buys :)

have a great day today :sunny:

Hey Denise!:wave2:

That's quite the workout with the legs! Good for you!:teeth:
Looks like you are making progress with the food too. The journaling can be so good to help you figure all of it out.::yes::
Have a great day!

Just wanted to say thanks for all your support, you sound like you are doing rather well, better at exercising than me. (not that I have any time to do it and as you've read I am not exaggerating) Just wanted to wish you luck and say if you stick to what you are doing you should do well, you seem to be improving as you go again, good luck.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. I really think journaling is helping and I love reading everyone's support. Here's yesterday:

B: Co co wheats, ww toast orange juice

S: Special K bar

L: Turkey breast sandwich on ww bread, ff yogurt, animal crackers

S: Special K bar

W: I ran 3 miles on the treadmill--increased my speed a little and knocked 45sec off my time.

D: grilled fish, brown rice, and ff baked beans

S: banana sundae WITHOUT the ice cream! YUM!

I really wish I had time to workout the way I do over the summer; I need to add more in, I'm just not sure when and where. I stay at school and do my weights in the fitness room, I usually do aerobics at school with some other ladies (our instructor couldn't meet this week), and I run at home with DH. When I have the time to fit in pilates, I do that at home too. I have a lot of resources available to me; I'm just not sure when I can take more time to use them. I also bike at home sometimes, but I've only had time to do that on the weekends. I think I'm going to say that the first 1/2 hour of any tv I watch has to be watched while riding the bike. That may be the only way to get a little extra in my routine. The only problem I see with that is that I use a lot of that time to grade papers. I'm going to tell my DH I want him to make me do this; I know he will and I'll be happy that he encouraged me to do so. K, I'm rambling; I'm really just thinking aloud. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to squeeze more in? Here's a sample summer workout: First thing in the morning walk for 2 hours or run for 1 (with DH). Then in the evening, I usually ride the bike for one hour (26 miles). In between we usually go to the zoo, riverwalk, and mall (at least 2 times a week) and walk around all day. I love these days and wish I had time to do that all the time, but I don't so what can I do to add at least a little more? Sorry for "talking" so much!

Hey Denise!:wave2:
I think we would all love some magician to add some free time to our schedules so that we could do more!;) I think your idea about the bike riding during television would work well. That is what I try to do. I get on my *evil* stepper while I watch TV. I don't do a whole lot of TV watching, but there are a few shows I do like to watch. So I try to kill two birds with one stone as the saying goes.
How lovely your summer routine sounds! Man, I wish I had gone back to get my teaching certificate!:( Marcia, are you reading this???!!!
Keep up the great work Denise! I'll suggest Edy's FF ice cream with Splenda for your next sundae! It is really good and not bad at all on the diet!;)

yes sharon, of course i'm reading this :p . and i promise i'm going to do it. i've started looking at schools around here, and i will definitely be in classes starting summer or fall. and sorry to denise for taking over your journal for this little bit to discuss me, back on topic...you!

fitting in exercise. i feel like i'm very lucky with being able to have time to fit mine in. i guess it helps that i'm an unattached 22 year old, only responsible for myself. i've found though, that between working, working out, and seeing my friends when i get the chance, i tend to watch a lot less tv than i used to. i used to come home from work, plop on the couch, and stay in front of the tv till i went to bed. i was easily watching 4 hours a day. now i am in no way saying you do this. i know you're incredibly busy, and there really isn't anything you can cut out of your schedule to fit in more exercise. hmm. i guess it would help to get on the bike while watching tv. even if for the first half hour, you have to grade papers, maybe the next half hour you have to ride the bike. less time just watching tv? (not sure how much you even have time to do...and i know you do need some "down" time, but i don't know what else to suggest  ). if it was up to me, i'd add a couple more hours to your day to help you out. when they make me ruler of the world...

and i must agree that i love the sound of your summers. reading that made me really want to run today. but i'm going to resist the urge since it's a planned rest day from running (although, i will be hitting the elliptical and doing some walking. i just feel like i need to today...more details in my journal. haha, that sounds like i'm plugging my journal. i'm cracking myself up! i just don't want to take any more space in your journal talking about me! :p )

ok, i'm outta your journal. hope you had a great day today, and maybe found some time to squeeze in some exercise! :sunny:

hey there Denise

keep up the great fight against the pounds :)

You guys are all so awesome! I love the support I get here. I do get a lot of exercise--I just want more! Anyway, Marcia, I'm so excited that you're looking into school and you think you might start as soon as this summer. Let me know if you have any questions about anything--I will finish my Masters in Sept. Well, it's pretty late in the day to be posting for yesterday, but here it is:

B: Oatmeal, slice of ww toast, orange juice

S: Special K bar

L: Turkey sandwich on ww bread, ff yogurt, and 1/2 a donut (oops!, but better than a whole--a lady at lunch ask me to share--shame on me!)

W: Upper body (chest, shoulders, triceps, back, and biceps) 1hr.

S: Special K bar (I think I need to stop eating these, they only have 90 calories, but they have too much sugar) and animal crackers (actually two separate snacks, the first at school after my workout and the second at home before we went grocery shopping b/c I new dinner would be late.)

D: potatoes and eggs in a tortilla and baby carrots

Not a bad day, other than that partial donut. Today has been good so far, but I'll wait to go into detail until my full post. I will share this--I weighed myself this morning and weighed 142 (I'll have to check, but I think that's exactly 1 pound lighter than last week!) I'll take what I can get. That was with all those pesky M&Ms, so I can't wait to see what happens next week when I lay off them!
