Denied Entry

Finally figured out how to do this...

Okay so a friend just told me that he went from his hotel to the back entrance of Epcot - walked through Epcot straight to the monorail - took the monorail to MK and when he got there - none of his family's passes worked (yes, they were park hoppers - definitely). The guys at the gate let them in manually but they were not able to get fastpasses for anything all day. Finally a CM told them that because they entered (or tried to) two parks within an hour - that they were denied entry due to a Disney "glitch" that won't allow it. The reason they couldn't get FP at MK was because they were manually let in - the computers thought they were still in Epcot. Sound weird! Has anyone experienced this? So curious! Thanks!

PS - I've also done the back entry Epcot straight to MK - but apparently I take way more than an hour (darn those Grey Goose slushies).

Tell them to go to guest relations at MK, they can fix it or give them cards that will let them get FPs from the machines.

When we've been manually entered into the park, we have also had problems with getting FP's. If that happens, immediately go to Guest Services so you aren't fumbling around with CM's at the FP machines all day.

If there is a glitch and it's Disney's then the guest should always be right.

They should be given extra fastpasses for a later date to make up for the inability to get fastpasses on the date mentioned.

Other guests who catch it more quickly should seek fastpass getting cards (resemble or are complimentary tickets) for use that day when their regular tickets are disabled. (Optionally first ask CMs at the rides after oral explanation to get the machines to issue fastpasses manually.)

Sounds kind of urban-legendy to me. What is the point of the 1-hour waiting period? I could get from DHS to Epcot in less than an hour.

It's probably because most people don't do that and those who do may be committing fraud. Like others said they have a work around if you do happen to do that.

Yes, but you would likely have been at DHS or while. They entered Epcot and went directly to MK within the same one hour period. The re-entry blocking is to stop people from entering the park and then handing the card to someone else who is still outside the gate. While the finger scanner should protect this from happening, it is not 100% accurate (and only applies to adults), and most people who enter a park do not immediately go to another one.

That makes sense. So it's not really a "glitch", then, it's an intentional feature of the software intended to prevent cheating.

We have hopped like that before and never had an issue, but I dont know if we were that fast to do two within a few minutes of each other though.

Yep - had it happen when we were actually up early enough to get to the Studios, get a Toy Story Mania FastPass and then immediately exit that park and walk to Epcot. Less than an hour and we were denied entry at the International Gateway. But we were never denied any FastPasses at Epcot and if I had, I would have gone and gotten that corrected right away.

When in doubt about anything, head to Guest Relations. Don't keep going and say "oh well".

We do this all the time - but we grab a drink at the UK pavillion to enjoy on our walk out the door, so maybe that slows us down? At the end of the April we did this and I bet we were in Epcot no more than 20 minutes total.

This happened to my family once. We went to MK and it was really busy. Park Hopped to Epcot and had trouble getting in. CMs said it was due to that. I don't think we tried getting Fast passes though.

Oddly enough, someone just posted yesterday saying that they were denied entry into a park after having to immediately leave to get a back at bag check; we're told to wait 5 mins after the initial entry. Something new I suppose (this used to not be the case) with all of this RFID ticket media, it might be some form of protection from scammers.

I find this odd, we stay at BC and often walk through Epcot onto MK in less rhan an hour and have never been let in manually. I can guarantee we do it in less than an hour. Maybe it has something to do with the new system

Yup.

There must be thousands of guests a year who walk through Epcot to get to the monorail to MK.

I frequently answer questions about guests wanting to do that.
