pixiedust: Some pixie dust for you and your DH!!

(and, hey, if you can't do the marathon this year, there's always 2008 (with me  ) although as of now I'm shooting for the 1/2)!

Congrats on jumping right back on to SouthBeach after your vacation!! You are doing GREAT!!

It's so great to have you back! I always look forward to your posts!

Hi Dena!!!

Wow...such exciting news for you :grouphug: . Best of luck in your quest for baby number two. Very exciting...really. And how cool that you guys will still be there for the marathon regardless...what a great attitude!!!

OK...so how was Hershey????? One of my favorite places :teeth:

Checking in: I ran tonight! The first time in FOREVER. We did one mile 3/2. Sad to say it was tough. But I was pleasantly surprised I could still do 3/2 so there's hope for fast improvement. So looks like we're back on track!

Congrats on getting out there again!! You'll be running long distances in no time! I'm so proud of you! :thumbsup2

Thanks Kim!

I took a rest day yesterday since it was after my long run. 1 Mile my long run. LOL! But we got back out there tonight and walked for 30 minutes. We are back in the game and feeling great about it.

Sad note: July was the first month we won't be able to complete our new year's resolution of a 5k per month. It's sad, but I'm trying to just focus on following the 1/2 marathon training schedule and not worrying too much about it.

Reason #21
21. I'm getting so close to weighing what my mom does.

I weighed this morning and it was 179. I'm finally in the 170s! My mom has been stuck at 172 so I'm on my way to catch up with her! 179 is a long way from the 269 I weighed when I was pregnant. I'm so happy! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Look at you go, girlie! You're gonna pass your mom and inspire her along the way! :moped:

Great job for continuing to get out there & keep moving. You've come a long way!

Hey, Dena! Great job on those too-big size 18s and on being so close to weighing less than your Mom. Wanting to be healthy when you get pregnant is a fabulous reason for maintaining your healthy lifestyle.
Oh, and one last thing -- when I did the 1/2 marathon this year, there was a woman there who was very pregnant and was walking the 1/2 because she had done a distance event during each of her first 2 pregnancies. Isn't that cool? :cheer2: Oh, maybe it was during the Minnie 15K. Now I don't remember, but the point is that you could certainly walk the 1/2 marathon even if you are pretty far along in a pregnancy. That would be so much fun and the prospect of it would be motivation to keep you training and eating healthy while you "wait"! :teeth:

Thanks again for stopping by my journal. I really appreciated the visit.

Well, I went and bought another copy of MFM tonight. It is mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. I will NOT loan it to anyone ever again. My first copy was loaned to a friend who just told me, "Oh, I don't know where it is. Ha ha ha." Not so funny. :furious:

So I am excited to get back into my penguin mindset. I am making one huge change in my training though. Instead of the Run/Walk plan, DH and I are going to try the Walk/Run. I don't ever see me running long distances in the future and DH and I love to walk and talk together. So I think more walking will be a better fit for us. I have to admit it does make me scared of those sweepers though. :scared1:

We have a new gym opening up in town. It's called Anytime Fitness. It is open 24 hrs! :woohoo: How cool is that? Especially since DH and I are such night owls. I'm going to take my copy of MFM to the personal trainer there and say, "I'll take care of the walk/run days. You fill in my cross training for me." I don't know what machines to do or what other kind of cross training activities would work. And I don't even care to think about it. It's not something I want to have to decide. So I'll pay them to do it for me!

As far as eating is going. It's been really tough. I was sick with severe stomach pains for 3 days. The only thing I thought I could eat was Cheetos so I ate 2/3 of a 3 pound bag!!! Then I progressed on to cookies. Great huh? So now my cravings are out of control. But I don't have the willpower to make myself suffer through Phase 1 again so soon. I feel like I'm barely hanging onto my diet. It's like at any moment I could blow all my weightloss and just give in and eat all the things I'm craving. Which is what has happened EVERY time I've lost weight in the past. I really want this time to be different, but I don't know what to do. I'm bored with the South Beach plan. I want to be able to eat a wider variety of things, but everytime I go off the plan I gain instantly. Blech! I thought about the GI diet. Wonder if it works...

Clothes. I really want to celebrate my new body by buying a ridiculous amount of cute clothes. I'm so so so bored with my current clothes. I don't feel pretty in them anymore. But we don't have much money right now so I'll have to wait.

I'm starting to be really afraid about the future. I'm completely bored with my diet and my clothes. My cravings are taking over. And I don't have any willpower left. Sounds like the exact thing that has always happened before. I guess I count it progress to be able to recognize what's going on. Now if I only knew how to fix it...

Sorry to be such a downer. :guilty: But these feelings had to be worked through honestly.

Love you all!

You certainly ARE a night owl!! I'm always amazed at the times you post! :surfweb:

As far as your "rut", I'm sorry you're going through it, but I also think it's GREAT that you realize it and don't want it to happen. I'm willing to help in anyway I can if that'll do any good. I did challenge Marie here on the WISH boards, and she's following through (with a few complaints along the way!). Seriously, take care and do those walks with your DH and talk it through. I love your plan for the walk/run. I'm SURE you can walk much faster than the sweepers are worried about...so don't stress!

I'm sending you a PM too!

Talk to you soon!

:grouphug: Dena..

Hey there girl! Look....I think we all hit these times when we question and doubt. I did the same thing this past weekend. Then I felt bad for posting my negative thoughts LOL! Look....we could beat ourselves up forever. But that's not what we're about! I know you are going to get control of this...you are doing an EXCELLENT JOB!! We are all so proud of you here. SOOOO....my advice is for you to go back and read all those awesome "reasons why" because they've inspired SO MANY of us here. AND....realize that the clothes don't make us pretty (yes..i know they help)...but you are a beautiful person regardless of new clothes. AND you are a great mom and wife AND you have been working so hard and taking care of yourself. So don't be too hard on YOU....just hang in there and keep on moving forward! Read MFM.....continue to stay inspired...and believe in yourself. You can do this!!!

((HUGS))

Reason #22
22. I wasn't self concious while signing up for the gym!

I had a pretty great day today! :rainbow: Adam and I signed up at the Anytime Fitness gym. They are scheduled to open September 1st. I can't wait! The owner mentioned that he would like to put together a race. We told him we loved 5ks and do one per month. He got all excited and said that we would be his contact people for organizing it. Can you imagine? Me putting a 5k race together. :hyper: I was flattered that he didn't laugh me off. That must mean that I'm making some serious progress here. :cool1:

Also, we started the MFM Walk/Run program tonight. We were feeling like it was going to be easy since we were up to 3r/2w before. Ha! It kicked our butt! :faint: But it was really good. I enjoyed being able to talk a little instead of just gasping for breath. I think this plan is a perfect fit for us. We clocked in at 14:39 per mile, I think. I'd like to get it under 14 just to be safe. I'm sure we'll get faster as we get back into it again.

Thanks so much for the support during my rough times guys! But tonight it's time to celebrate! I'm back in this thing! party:

Look at you go, girlie!! You've joined a gym, you're organizing a race and you're walk/running!! :woohoo:

GO DENA (and your DH!!)

oh, and just curious....WHEN do you sleep??? :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Kim! I grew up an only child so I need a lot of time to myself. So the only time Mommys can get alone time is in the middle of the night. Thank goodness my daughter sleeps until 10am so I can still get my rest in too!

Congrats on everything Dena!! So awesome that you guys joined the gym and that you may get to help organize a 5k!! How neat!!

It's so nice to see you back into it...you can definitely feel the positive vibes coming out of your posts!!

MFM is an awesome program and you'll get faster just by sticking to the plan...don't try and do too much at one time, that plan is designed that way for a reason :)

Have a great day!

Okay, it finally hit me...

I AM IN TRAINING FOR A HALF MARATHON.

It is no longer something I want to do. Or something I'm thinking about doing. Tonight as we were putting in the steps it finally sunk in that I, Dena, am IN TRAINING! How amazing. How fun. How beyond my wildest dreams.

I'm loving every minute of the walk/run plan. I like being able to give the 1 minute runs everything I have since I know they won't last very long. It's very liberating and makes it more fun.

:tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe: Keep putting those steps in! :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe:

Tonight is my first long walk/run of training, and I'm so excited because I get to wear my wish shirt for the first time! I'm only going to wear it on the long walk/run days so I get feel all my WISHers helping me along.

Plus, I'm back down to 179lbs again! Yay! Only 2 more to go until I hit a total of 60lbs gone! Yippers!
