Usually republican, but vote for the PERSON I like best, doesn't matter which party they are.

That said, I will be voting for Bush again. My DH is primarily a farmer and for farmers usually a republican president is best. When Clinton was in office things got so bad that DH and his brother-in-law had to get extra jobs, off the farm, to make ends meet. And after being in the pork producing business for 25+ years they had to sell out because prices stayed too low for too long. Corn was selling for less than $2 a bushel, and I remember when we were first married, back in '75, corn was at $2 a bushel and DH said it wasn't a "good price" even then, so try "getting by" on LESS than it was 25 years ago. Would YOU want to work at YOUR job for less than what you made 25 years ago? No one would. Now, with Bush in office, corn is over $3.50/bushel and our soybeans are over $10/bushel (we had never seen $9/bushel before) so things have finally improved on the "family farm." I want it to stay that way so Bush will be getting my vote, again.

Two, Kerry actually supports cutting taxes for the middle/lower classes. He wants to increase taxes on the wealthy and get rid of a lot of the tax breaks George W gave to all his corporate friends.

I'm assuming that since you don't live here, you too are simply buying into the lie that the middle class in America didn't get a tax cut. Everyone that pays income tax in America saw a tax rate cut, with the exception of those that get caught in the AMT debacle.

It's certainly OK to disapprove of the war in Iraq, Bush, etc. but you need to be careful of your words. Our men and women in the armed forces are brave, strong, well-trained, and proud (most of whom are honored to be serving their country and touched everyday by the Iraqi people who are so thankful they are there). To call them "young lambs going to the slaughter" is an outrageous insult to these courageous people.

Yup, me too. I come from a long line of liberal hippie weirdos. Somehow down the road my husband turned conservative on me, so we're at opposing points of the political spectrum.

I am one of those couragous people, and have been for six years (SSG, US Army and former platoon sergeant), and that's why I can say we are sending lambs to the slaughter. I don't think most people see, that a lot of these kids out there are 18-20, just out of high school, having no idea what they got into. They go wide eyed through a couple months basic, a couple months AIT, and then get sent out to the battlefield with no idea what they're doing. How many teens know how to fire a claymore or AT4 out of AIT? I'd say one out of ten. Most were duped by recruiters, trying to get college money or a better way of life, and instead they end up lying in the middle of some desert alleyway because Iraq could "possibly have" WMD.

Yeah, Bush likes to show you the SSG's, and CPT's, and higher grades who have been in long enough to know what they're fighting for. But no one seems to notice the wide eyed private wondering just what the hell he's doing with an M16 in in his hand.

btw...I used to run for President every year...but I totally stepped down this year to support one man, John Kerry. I've known he was going to be president ever since his testimony before congress.

Good answer! And that is NOT sarcasm. I am glad to know you are a soldier--I feel better about your statement.

I grew up in the army--my father just retired after 33 years, and my husband just got out after 8. I thought I would mention my background because you implied I got my knowledge about members of the armed forces through Bush. Apparantly the soldiers you are around and the soldiers we are around have very different views. Our friends who are still in, are HOPING to go to Iraq, and our friends who are there report on so many heartwarming stories, that not supporting what they are doing is impossible for me.

But, there are two sides to every issue--and I can see yours as well.

Don't sweat it, Vamp.....I've found that an alarmingly large percentage of the people supporting the current regime never served, themselves.

BTW...I spent 4 years in the Air Force, stationed at the Pentagon...so them preaching to me about 9/11 always amuses me

I'm from a very conservative family...my cousin is 4 and watches fox news every night with his daddy...and I have Rush's phone number memorized I listen to that show so much! If I could vote, of course I would vote for Bush...and even if I wasn't from such a conservative family, John Kerry totally freaks me out!
