Demi Lovato off to rehab

I heard about the rehab to and I'm shocked but not shocked. I have friends on twitter that have said at the concerts recently she has looked out of sorts. I honestly wish Joe would have been more sensitive with Demi and not had Ashley along so much. He deserves to be happy, but he also needs to take a look at how it affects the other people around him that he claims to be "good friends with". Nick seems to be the only one JoBro still genuinely friends with her.

Sadly Demi and Selena had a falling out. Though they consider themselves good friends they hardly talk to each other especially since Selena became pals with Taylor Swift. This all happened around the time the Haiti Donation Drive.

I'm gonna pray for Demi and I hope she gets through this with the support of her family and true friends that love her. But also hopes she knows she has fans out there that are praying for her and love her as well. She is a very talented singer and actress and I have enjoyed watching her and listening to her since I first saw Camp Rock years ago.

i have noticed that she seems a lot thinner this season on Sonny with a Chance. i hope she gets help. she seems like one of the more down-to-earth Disney starlets.

I noticed too! She is naturally a bigger girl so I was a little concerned. I'm glad she is getting help so soon for her ED.
I told DH she was in rehab and he gasped and asked me if she drank a wine cooler. She is a sweet girl. Sending positive wishes for her recovery!

I've been thinking about this too...my DD is 13, and she's certainly old enough to know and understand the dangers of drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, etc. but cutting is just such a heavy topic.

There was an earlier AP interview that she gave where she talked about being bullied and verbally harrassed in middle school. I think the cutting may date back to that trauma, I know she said she went to being homeschool after that.

I'm very sad for her and hope she gets the help and support she needs. She did look very thin to me on the new season of Sonny (my kids and I love that show, don't care who knows it ). I can't imagine the pressure she is under and how disheartening it would be to be surrounded by people that you think you can trust but that let you down or betray you.

I hope she comes back stronger.

When you are famous, people are going to discuss you.

Yes, my dd is 14, and she and her friend are big fans of Demi. We will have to discuss it later today.

But maybe if girls like your niece see that someone else is going through it, it can make them feel less alone, or help them in some way.

If this thread was titled "My sister checked into rehab" and told the tale of my sister suddenly announcing to me and the family that she had some issues and was checking into rehab, would that also be a shame to discuss?

I'm assuming you are referring to my comment about there being ten Lindsay Lohans for every Jodi Foster, and you are absolutely right that Demi Lovato's issues are much different than Lindsay Lohan's.

My comparison, though, was in the unhappiness that is apparent in many of these child stars, even though they have wealth and fame and glamour - the life so many young kids and teens dream of. Both Lindsay Lohan, and yes, Demi Lovato, have shown that this 'idyllic' life isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I feel for every one of these girls (including Lindsay Lohan).

So few of them seem to successfully take the leap from child actor to respected adult actor (like Jodi Foster did). I can't help but think that the scrutiny these girls receive at such an early age must scar them for life. I really hope, though, that Demi Lovato can get the help she needs and come back stronger than ever. She really does seem like a nice kid.

I suprised that Selena Gomez hasn't come out with an eating disorder also. She seems way too thin. Since they are good friends nad in the same career path I can imagine they both are under alot of pressure.

It sure does. I hope she gets the help she needs. I saw some of the pics of the cuts and it's bothersome that she chooses to cut her wrists out of all places. That kind of comes off a suicide attempt, wouldn't you think? Is that a typical area for a cutter to cut?

She has been forced? That is so sad. What is wrong with these parents? Seems like a lot of them just want to live that hollywood lifestyle through their kids. They are more interested in fame and money then they are in the well being of their own offspring.

I would never allow my child to be involved in any movie, tv show or other things in the entertainment field. Nine times out of ten it messes them up. If it isn't alcohol or drugs, it's eating disorders or worse. Plus having the paparazzi in your face all the time would get old real fast.
