Just back from 12 days at Disney on the deluxe plan, while it was awesome and I would do it again, was a TON of food, to the point that towards the end of the trip we were skipping deserts and appetizers.. Of our 88 snack credits we started with, we had 79 left on our last day, were just never wanting snacks..

I think the one mistake we made is only doing 4 signatures (CRT, Jiko, Yachtmans, HDDR) and no counter services, so did 31 TS meals in the 12 days(split credits at BB and TL)..

Best meal- Sanaa, simply awesome!!!

Almost forgot.. cost of the plan was $2046, kept our receipts and they totaled $3347... would be interesting to go back to those same places and order OOP and see what we would have spent..

Awesome savings !! That was totally worth doing the dining plan. We're doing it for the first time in Sept...I'm looking forward to it. We've got quite a few 2 TS meals planned.

What did you do w/ all your remaining snack credits ? I hope you brought some goodies home!! popcorn:: Nothing beats the mickey rice krispy treat!

Glad you had a great experience!!! :woohoo:

Glad that you enjoyed yourself and the DxDPP we are going to do 14 nights of DxDDP. I had read that people get tired of the food by the the end so I made sure I made 9 reservations at signature places. We still have some TS/CS not planned. DH wants to play it by ear the second week. :thumbsup2

The candy store on Main St in the MK was awesome to us, lady actually walked around the store with us telling what we could get and what we couldn't.. Think we spent 51 credits there, including 2 dozen pieces of fudge..

Not sure I would say we were tired of food, because it was so yummy, but we did make an effort to eat less, especially at lunch, so we would be hungry for the nicer places for dinner..

Ouch for the gratuities on that! That is always the reason I shy away from the deluxe, eating that much TS is expensive!

We're doing the DxDP in a few weeks for 8 nights. I am planning to use the snack credits for water/powerade/smart water/fresh fruit. Last year we did the DxDP and had a ton of snack credits left, but we didn't use them for drinks. I sort of "saved" them all but in hindsight, saved them for what? I ended up with 20 Mickey rice krispies, 10 bags of chips and other Disney snacks. I hope to use many of our snacks for cold drinks this time around.

Are you going to be posting any dining reviews? Would love to hear your thoughts!

That's our experience, too, even on a short trip - think we used a couple of snack credits for frozen slushies when it was sooo hot, but had 7 left among 3 adults on a 2 nite trip. We did take some great bakery items back to our condo so got a little extra Disney pixie dust at breakfast the next day :)

We really liked trying all the restaurants, too & enjoyed the food. So our next trip (late September) we're doing just 2 nights on the DxDP. Instead of TS breakfasts and 3 large meals a day, we'll use a snack for a pastry or yogurt at breakfast, then we'll have two TS lunches & 2 signature dinners. And we're spreading them out Friday-Saturday-Sunday. Hopefully this will give us the right amount of food/fun without getting over-stuffed!

I always buy snacks that I know I can take home and freeze...then I can have a bit of the mouse while I'm not there

we are doing the deluxe plan again in Sept but changed the way we would use the credits, we are doing alot of signature dining plus TS breakfast and only 2 lunches so aren't doing 3TS/day. Way too much food. we have credits not allocated so if we decide to use room service (first time at deluxe hotel) then we can.

$3347, but minus snack credits, 4 mugs and then CRT and HDDR both had their tip included.. $2700 * .18 = $486.. A few times we tipped more, so probably spent $525..

If we would do it again, would probably use TS credits on breakfast and more signatures for dinner, then snack credits during those afternoons... We also brought frozen bottles of water in the park with us, so didn't even need snack credits for drinks..

I thought a great use of credits at the water parks was to split meals, would get two meals and ask for 2 extra cups.. Also did this at Disney Quest.. Or if you have extra snack credits, use them for an extra drink or two..

A journalist I am not, anything above "that was darn good eats" is going to be above my pay grade... :)

Our favorites were Sanaa and Jiko, perhaps because we stayed at AKV, sort of put us in that "happy place".. Other meals we really enjoyed were La Cellier, Yachtman and Boma..

Also did Coral Reef, WCC, Tony's, Plaza (twice), Ohanas, Sci-Fi, Chef Mickeys, CRT (dinner), Cape May, Crystal Palace.. Pleased with all of those, have to say that CRT was a pleasent suprise and we always love Plaza Rest and Ohanas.. If we were to replace any, would be Tonys and Sci-Fi...

And these breakfasts- Boma a few times, Ohana, 1900 PF, CP, Tusker House, H&V twice... Thought all were great, love Bomas and the character breakfast are of course fun..

If you have any specific questions, will do my best to answer..

OMG the cost of the plan is more then we are paying for our whole trip:rotfl2:, but it sounds amazing! Glad you enjoyed it!

I kept all our receipts when using the DP and compared it to OOP costs. I also compared the TS meals if paying OOP vs TIW. (Totals at trip report link below). Bottom line is that the DP will definately save you money vs OOP IF you would have eaten the same things anyway. In our case, we would rather not have a dessert with every TS/CS meal and have an appetizer and an adult beverage :drinking1: every once in a while. For us, the TIW is a better deal. For many others, the DP will be a great deal.

Thanks for sharing. We are doing DxDDP for first time in December but I will be using snack credits for bottle waters. We like to have sit down meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we love room service so I'm not too worried.

We just got back from a week, so not quite 12 days, but we enjoyed doing the 1 TS character breakfast in late AM and signature dining in evening. That was the reason we did the DxDP. We ended up with 20 snack credits left at the end of the trip as well. We let our dds eat ice cream sandwiches for lunch (and the adults did too) a couple days, but we left with a bag full of rice krispie treats as well.

Thanks for the info! We're doing 8 nights of dxDP. Glad to hear Sanaa was great. Which other meals would you go back in the future?

Besides fudge, what else were you able to use your snack credits for? Any nut bags at the Confectionary that you can use snacks for?

We didn't get any of the snack bags because they seemed so small.. picked up a quite a few of the Rice Krispie treats, bag of cotton candy, couple of cookies..

Most of the meals we would do again, possible exceptions being Coral Reef, Tonys and Sci-Fi, they were ok, but not great and would probably do something different..

We have young kids so did Bomas for breakfast I believe 5 times, would have liked to try Konas, Cape May and WCC for breakfast, but would have been instead of making rope drop...
