Okay --- we're talking 12/1 to 12/3 - back from our 7day (1st time YIPPEE!) Disney cruise - want to catch the X-mas Party at the MK on 12/2 == wanted to stay monorail but our choices are limited. DU came up with an alternate plan for us -- I really do like them:

Deluxe Room at the WL (Concierge)
or
1 BR Villa at WL

we are 2 adults, 11 yo, 7 yo and 18 mos.
DVC members - used to 1 BR
but LOVE!!!!! Concierge - my older kids love free food (who doesn't- even tho technically it ain't exactly free)

is concierge worth it ???
both about the same price -either way
1 BR gets us more space - but not the luxury of being pampered
It is only 2 nights ---
I have a hold on a garden view room at the Poly (love it there to but never stayed).

WL - there's a boat to MK (although I heard ugly things about transportation there and I do not want to take a bus w/ my 18 mo old and the stroller bit).

What to do....what to do.....what do the Disney gods think today on the Disboards about this dilemma??????

The deluxe rooms at WL are very nice. There is a bedroom with two queen beds, a living room with a dining table, sofa, chairs, tv, and the two rooms are separated by a set of French doors. Having the two beds in a bedroom makes it easier for the adults to stay up a little later if they want to, since you may not need the sofa bed for sleeping. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of space. In fact, other than the lack of kitchen and laundry facilities, I think you'll be just as happy in a deluxe room as you would be in a one bedroom. And for that short a trip, you probably wouldn't need the kitchen or laundry anyway.

The Poly would be my choice with an 18 month old. The baby/stroller can be rolled onto the monorail. Also you can walk to the TTC and catch the direct monorail to Epcot. We have also stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. We liked it very much. The transportation was not as easy. If the small boat arrives, you have to take your child out of the stroller and fold it up. The bus transportation to the other parks can be challenging. I hope that your family has a great time. I think any of the options would be great.:goodvibes

Thanks for the tips --- now I'm even more confused -- I think I'm good to go on the Deluxe Concierge if I do stay at the WL -- but the Poly and the monorail -- I don't know if I could pass that up -- I hate to hump a stroller around on a boat ....don't know ....anyone else think otherwise ...I've got a split decision going....
HELP ---- either way, I can't wait to go no matter where I stay!!:goodvibes

With small children and a stroller - I would stay at a MONORAIL resort

I'd do the poly because of the stroller. You can always do WL another trip. oh, but wait... you're there at xmas... WL is probably *the* place to be at xmas. It's wonderful to have to walk through the lobby and see the tree and decorations all the time. At the poly, you'd have to make a special trip to the lobby to enjoy it (unless you're hopping on the monorail, which i guess you would be w/ the stroller)... hmmm.... i'd still say WL because of the time of year. (last xmas i had WL Conceirge booked and paid in full for xmas week, and dh really didn't want to go but was going to please me - what a guy! - but i cancelled it because of dh's lack of enthusiasm, and my heart is still healing!)

are you planning on doing all the parks? you're dvc members, right? so you've been and you're going again. you're doing the MVMCP, so you'll be doing MK. you'll probably pick another park i'm guessing. if you're doing MK and Epcot, poly is certainly more convenient. but if you're doing mgm or ak, you'll have to bus from the poly too (same as WL). Will you need to do laundry after your cruise? then of course the 1 bedroom is awesome.

My final answer, considering time of year mostly and length of trip, would be conceirge WL. I think that would be the most *magical* for xmas time.

have fun deciding!!

Okay -- I think I might have decided -- called Member Services and they have 1 BR at WL available (for points on Saturday night, of course) and for cash on Sunday -- no money upfront just a credit card guarantee....plus only 45 points for Saturday stay in a 1BR ...we are used to double that for BC and BW. I'm really only going to MK so this is perfect place to hide out after our cruise and then do the Very Merry X-mas Party on Sunday 12/2 .....whaddaya think??? I talked myself right out of the Poly (std room --- save that for another time when the concierge is available and it's a short stay since it's expensive)..... maybe even talked myself out of WL concierge =

What are your thoughts on the Villas???? Any special room I should request?> I have never been to WL at all for all the 20 times we've been to WDW. Now seems like the right time and I heard the X-mas decorations are spectacular.

I read somewhere that the dark wood and all that checkered print can be a little disconcerting if you're used to beachy themes.... anyhoo what's everyone's thoughts.

GREAT decision!!!!!!

We'll be there the same days! Of course, in a plain ole std courtyard view room! LOL

Sounds like you came up with the perfect solution! Yeah!!

How cool is that !!! I'm sure our paths will cross without us even knowing it.....we'll have to arrange a plan --- like I'll wear a sign on my back that says "indecisive procrastinating mom who got great advice on the Disboards!!!" You, of course, can just wear mouse ears....I'm sure I'll find you in the crowd. Can't wait until the holidays now...how exciting!!!! Thanks for everything....talking it out is very helpful!:cool1:
