Has Disney ever offered or currently offer a deal in which you can use the funds you spent on a Disney Resort vacation towards the down payment of a DVC membership? I seem to remember in-room marketing stating that during a visit to DAK Lodge a few years ago but since most of my Disney vacations have been on DVC points I don't remember seeing that (nor was I really looking for it). Thanks, everyone!

Not something is being offered currently, I think I remember hearing something about this in the past, but it was very limited and I don't think it lasted very long.

That was actually the promo program in the early 1990s. Not aware it has been used since.

Thats the deal I got when I bought back in 1997, they credited me for the enitre value of my vacation package, you also got free park tickets for occupancy size of the room you were in, whenever you stayed on points. That ended in 1999 or 2000. Buying DVC back then was a complete no brainer as the popularity of DVC exploded, these those kinds of perks withered and continue to wither...Man I miss the good ole days....

We bought in 1998 and were able to use what we had paid for our vacation toward buying in. We did not get any park passes that year though.

If you are talking about OKW, you got free tickets for HALF of the occupancy of your room for the number of nights you were there (not days). So if you were in a studio or 1 bedroom, you got 2 free, 2 bedroom 4 free, GV 6 free.

They were upfront that the deal ended 12/31/99.

Yes, we got that deal back then too.

Oct/Nov 1997, we were staying at the Polynesian. First trip to WDW. We took the DVC tour and bought into OKW. We were able to use part of the cost of our stay at the Polynesian towards our down payment. Haven't seen that offer since about then.

The deal was something to the effect you got a discount off the purchase based on the cost of your stay with a maximum amount. However, they generally took points back to cover that cost so you were in effect trading your future points for your current stay.
