Deluxe Pools????

We are trying to decide which deluxe to stay in during our trip in August.

Due to the heat and humidity of August in Florida I am sure we'll spend quite a bit of time around the pool. A nice lounge chair in the shade and a cooling dip in the pool is something to dream about

We normally stay at the WL and spend most of our pool time at the quiet pool over by the villa. I don't like to be in a crowded pool and the villa pool normally has lounge chairs in the shade :thumbsup2

We are considering staying at a different resort this time  So which resort have quiet pools like the WL?????

We have a comp hold at the AKL but I don't remember a quiet pool there? But maybe we missed it???

The other options we are considering are the BC or Poly or possibly somewhere else?

Thanks for the help!

I've stayed at the 3 resorts you've mentioned. Here's my opinion on the pools:

BC -- SAB is really, really fun, but really really crowded. There are several quiet pools there, though, and I've never seem them crowded at all.

AKL -- there's no quiet pool here -- just one really, really large main pool. We didn't have any problems finding a nice place to sit there, though, and the pool was so big it didn't feel crowded at all. (And we were there during the spring break/easter week when the resorts were full).

Poly -- the pools here are really quite crowded. The main pool is fun and has a great view, but it's close to impossible to find a chair there or on the beach. The quiet pool was less crowded, but there were no seats available there, either. We were able to find a place to sit each day, but it took alot of work and we couldn't pick the location -- we were just lucky to find anything. The pools there are not sufficient for the size of the resort (plus all the poolhoppers that show up).

Hope this helps!:)

If a quiet pool is really what you are after, I would suggest you head to a moderate. DH and I have stayed at all the moderates and found all the quiet pools to be quite deserted. I'm a teacher so we always travel at peak periods. We were at CBR once in the middle of July and had the quiet pool to ourselves virtually the whole trip! (We were in one of the Trinidads - whichever is considered preferred). On the other hand - we were at the Poly this last April and both the main pool and quiet pool were packed the whole time!

We loved the quiet pool at the GF. We were there during Summer 2x, and we never had a problem with finding chairs in the shade. You may also want to consider renting a cabana. We thought it was well worth it, always shade and you get a nice fan too!!

We were at Beach Club last August... SAB during the day wasn't overly crowded at all. I'm not sure when the busy time is exactly, but we were there mid-day and 8 pmish on most days and never had any issues with crowds (meaning never had a problem securing beach chairs). BUT, the quiet pool over by the laundry area was completely and totally silent and deserted. Heavenly. :lmao: I went over to do laundry and lazed around poolside all by myself while I waited for the laundry to finish. My only complaint with that pool is the lack of poolside bar. ;)

Like someone else said... even the quiet pools at Poly are usually busy. I think it's because they are right in the middle of everything, so people notice them. The quiet pools at the some of the other resorts are less obviously there.

We loved the AKL pool as well. It is so huge it's never crowded and there's plenty of shade because of the theming. Keep your ressie, you won't regret it. The lodge is stunning and the animals create a unique experience you won't get anywhere else!

I love AKL's pool the most. It has sunny areas and shady areas depending on what you're looking for, and the pool is very large so it doesn't seem crowded at all. The pool slide is fun too! :goodvibes

GF's pool are nice, and are not too crowded like WL's main pool and Poly's two pools can get. I didn't have any trouble with the quiet pool at Poly though - we had no trouble finding a spot to lounge in. The main pool is crowded though!

All in all, if you want a really good but not too crowded pool, I think that AKl will be your best choice. :)

You might want to consider the CR resort. Pools have just been redone and they have a quiet pool. Plus it is one of disneys orginal resorts. The best in my opion.

I like the Beach Club suggestion--lots of quiet pools for use (Dunes Pool at BCVillas, Quiet Pool at Beach Club, and Quiet Pool at Yacht Club). Also, Boardwalk's quiet pool is often deserted.

AKL's pool is great (and Kidani rocks), but they're usually crowded.

My vote is for AKL! As others have said, it is very large and doesn't seem crowded. There is a zero entry side, which I love - you can sit there and sun, while still cool in the water. Also there are two hot tubs - one in which you can actually see the giraffes while in it!. The lounge chairs are very spread out throughout the pool area - some in sunshine, some in shade. Did I mention the great pool bar? We are heading there Tuesday - I can't wait! Hae fun! Jane:banana::banana:

Kidani pool was almost empty when we were there in May. However it is very small so when AKV is full it will be packed.

Kidani Village pool is very tiny - way too small for the villas there.

CR has nice pools.

BC/YC/BCV - Stormalong Bay is bad for getting a chair in the shade unless you spend all day there - getting there early. Dunes Cove pool at BCV is nice, no shade except under umbrellas. Plus, you have to walk through the villas to get there.

GF - themed pool is nice, but the non-themed pool in the center of the resort is excellent.
