I posted this on the Solo board, but thought I might get more responses here.

With AP holders now able to buy the DDP, I'm thinking about doing the DxDDP for my May trip. No way could I eat three meals and two snacks a day, but I'm thinking I would love to do a TS for an early lunch, then do a Signature (2TS) meal almost every night for dinner. I just called Disney Dining and was shocked that I was able to get every ADR I wanted on the exact night I asked for. Maybe it's not going to be too busy?

Here's what I got:

Sat 5/3
L Le Cellier
D Tokyo Dining
Sun 5/4
L Chef's de France
D Flying Fish
Mon 5/5
B Konas
L Grand Floridian Cafe
D Narcoosee
Tues 5/6
B WCC
L WCC
D Kona
Wed 5/7
L Tutto Italia
D California Grill
Thurs 5/8
L Olivia's
D Citricos
Fri 5/9
L Rose & Crown
D Wolfgang Pucks
Sat
L Yak & Yeti

I think I may cancel one (or maybe both) the breakfasts, along with Tokyo Dining and Wolfgang Pucks in order to book two more Signature restaurants. That way I would have Signature restaurants every night, except one.

What do you think? I really prefer TS meals and have been wanting to try some of these Signature Dining places. Do you think the DXDDP is worth it for a solo? With fourteen snacks included I'd be able to bring back rice crispie MM heads (or fudge) for all my coworkers.

Would you do the DxDDP as a solo? I love to eat, by the way.

I went ahead and booked the above ADRs but a room only with the AP discount rate, (until I make my mind up on the DDP). I've checked allears and made another list of meals that are a combination of just a few TS and CS (no Signature dining). According to that list my meals would cost about $243.35. The regular DDP would cost $265.93, but would not include appetizers or tips (and again no Signature dining). The DxDDP would cost $489.93, but would include 14 snacks, appetizers, and I could do almost all Signature Dining and then all 1 credit TS for early lunches.

Would you normally (by yourself) eat an appetizer, entree and dessert at every meal?

If you could order anything on the menu that you wanted, what would you order?

Do you want my DDP spreadsheet to plunk those numbers into? That'll show you the value of the plans immediately.

I am not sure that you wouldn't be cheaper going to all of those places and just paying OOP, but it depends on what you want to eat when you get to the restaurant.

Yes, I would love to have your DDP spreadsheets. As far as what I'd eat, I've used the DDP five times so far and usually (not always) order all three courses. I'm one of those bad people though who wastes food on the DDP. I usually eat about 1/2 my appetizer, most of the entree, and may only take a bite or two of dessert.

Just PM your address to me and I'll send them off! They're a great help.

Wasting isn't bad on the DDP, but when you figure what it'd cost you with out the courses that you're throwing away, you'll be surprised to see that you're kind of paying for them.

When I looked at the DDP I ordered an appetizer but skipped dessert with my spreadsheets. Usually I am so full after supper I'd be happier skipping whatever they're offering at the restaurant and eating a fun snack from a bakery in the park or resort later on that evening. Just removing dessert takes 5.50-6.00 off of your total OOP bill.

On appetizers I was lucky, there's a group of us so we'll just usually order one and share.

In your case I'd figure with the appetizers for sure! Eating half is not wasteful in the least, and they're usually pretty yummy.

See what the plan looks like for you without the dessert. If you still save on the plan - go ahead and order it and throw it away.

If your OOP cost is less (without dessert) than the DxDDP cost then ask yourself, is it worth the extra $ for the DxDDP to order something for two bites to throw out? If it is, then go for the plan!!

If you figure no dessert DEFINITELY I'd make sure to include the snacks into your OOP equation, you'll be buying that something sweet later on in the park.
