Deluxe Dining Plan Worked Well For Us

Glad it worked for you. If the kids were over 10 would it have worked out as well for you? I know that when kids are under 10 and character meals are included there seems to be a big advantage to using the DDP.

I'm thinking we still would have come out ahead, but not nearly $800+ ahead. I think it also depends on how the over 10 kids would normally eat.

We love the deluxe plan too. DH absolutely won't consider going w/o it, in fact! I don't find that the TS meals take up any more time in our day than dealing with CS after all the standing in line, and the food is so much better. We never eat fast food at home, so why in the world would we want to do it on vacation? I can only assume that we come out ahead in $$, but that's not really what it's about for us anyway. Those sound like great ADRs, some I haven't tried yet and hope to next time!

Thanks for posting! :thumbsup2

We are also doing the Deluxe Dining plan when we go in October. I debated long and hard and had many discussions with my husband about what dining plan was the best for us. DH finally decided that he wanted to do the Deluxe plan. That was as much as he decided. He just wanted to make sure that all of our meals are paid for in advance so, we decided on the Deluxe.

Can't wait to see how it works out for us!!

We are doing the DxDP in Nov for the first time and I am startig to wonder if I have too many ADR's We have the Candlelight processional and CRT but other than that we have all 1 credit meals. Generally we have a pre-RD ADR booked, late lunch like 2p, the a dinner at 7:30 or 8 after the park closes so no wasted park time there....

I've done the math (done it a couple of times in fact, yes I'm OCD like that...LOL :rotfl: ) - and I think we've decided to go the DxDP route from here on out to as long as we can afford it. We love all the dining experiences and it seems to save a good bit of $$$ from what my calculations can tell. Glad to see everyone has the same thinking. :scratchin

Not to hijack the thread, but I find it funny when people don't do the dining plan, and pay for everything OOP, but then say that they "saved so much $$" over the cost of the DDP by skipping desserts, sharing meals, or forgoing TS restaurants and/or skipping meals altogether because they weren't hungry. I just don't think it's fair to compare apples to oranges. The majority of the time, those folks spent less money because they chose to eat less food than what they would have been entitled to on one of the plans. I don't understand their logic in drawing a comparison between the two...they didn't "save" any money, they just spent less than the cost of the DDP.

I totally agree with this! We've never used a DP before, because it wasn't in the budget at the time the trip was paid for, and we did have to watch what we ate/spent. But this time, we are getting the DxDP. I went on allears and calculated what we would possibly pay OOP for the places we want to go, and it comes out to something like $200+ before factoring in snacks. And when I calculated the cost to eat at those places OOP, I did include an appetizer and dessert for everyone, because it didn't seem to be a fair comparison if I didn't.
