Hi, we always order the regular dining plan for our family. I'm trying to book my brother's honeymoon and I think they would like Deluxe as they are foodies and will be going at a slower pace. I need some clarification. How many sit down meals are included per day? It said 3 counter or sit down. You can have three sit down per day and no counter service if you choose? Didn't sound right. Can someone please clarify. I don't want to steer them wrong

Yes, that is right.

It also includes 2 snacks per night per person, and a refillable mug per person. I would clarify with your brother and SIL that they would be using the credits for table service meals, not counter service. If they want to do counter service frequently, they're probably going to be wasting money on the deluxe plan. Also, make sure they know how much food they're going to be getting. It's an appetizer, entree and dessert at each meal that has all the components available, in addition to the 2 snacks a day.

Lots of people end up wasting credits, food and money on the deluxe dining plan. Tip costs increase too (those aren't included) if you do more sit down meals to use the plan to it's full value. Definitely not for everyone!

The Deluxe Dining Plan includes 3 meal credits and 2 snack credits per person per night plus a refillable mug. The meal credits can be used for either TS and CS meals, but as the OP said, if they eat CS meals, they probably won't get their "money's worth" for the plan. At a TS venue, each person on the DxDP (meaning they'll be using credits to pay for the meal) gets an appetizer, entree, dessert, and standard/non-alcoholic drink at lunch/dinner.

As already said, if they will want to frequent the counter service locations, deluxe is probably a huge waste. The pros of deluxe to us were that we could do a table service breakfast and then a signature meal for dinner...we tried three table service meals in one day and it was not enjoyable (too much food, not enough time!). On the plus side you can use the credits anyway you like...one day we did CRT for breakfast and then California Grill for dinner and we used up snack credits in the middle of the day to get through lunch. (So that was 4 table service credits in one day)
We did end up with lots of snack credits left over but we used them up for snacks/souvenirs to bring home from Goofy's Candy Co (DTD) and the Boardwalk Bakery. Next time we still plan to do deluxe but we are planning our next trip during Food & Wine so we can use more snack credits that way! Hope this helps!

We do the DDXDP on all our trips.
3 meals - either TS or QS and 2 snacks per person per day. Also you get the refillable mug, they will pick that up in the Food Court.

The dinning & snack credits start as soon as they check in and end at mid-night on departure day.

Depending on arrival time and departure time.

Here are a few suggestions to get the most out of there DDXDP meals.

Book Character Breakfast most of these are buffet so plenty to eat, snack mid day, and a later romantic dinner, we love to get the last possible seating especially in Epcot, we have been lucky to be walking out without hardly any other guest around, This makes for some great pictures, there is normally a cast member who has taken some pic's for us.

One of the days I would do an early lunch so that they have a morning or two to sleep in ;) Sci Fi or LTT or Chefs are really nice spots for lunch.

I would do at least two signature meals, Flying Fish 1st then Cali Grill 2nd are great. Yachtsman's and Narcossee (sp?) would be my next choice's.

Depending on departure time, you might be able to squeeze a really nice breakfast in for the last day. Kona or Grand Floridian Café. If they are leaving later Lunch at DTD at Raglan road would be great a then they can stop at Goofy's Candy's and use up any remaining snack credits. If they are in a time crunch, they can always get QS to go.. for at the airport. Also if they have a super early departure time, tell them to use the remaining snack credits up the night before at the bakeries, and candy shop's.

My DD got married this year and the had a Mickeymoon too. We and some family members gave them Disney Gift cards at the reception, which they really appreciated and said that it gave them extra spending money which is always nice.

Also don't forget about photo-pass this makes a really nice wedding or shower gift.

Congrat's to the couple

I wouldn't recommend that your brother and his wife try to eat 3 meals a day(appetizer, entrée, dessert & beverage) on the deluxe dining plan unless that is what they do at home. I always get the deluxe dining plan when I go to WDW and use my TS credits to do a character breakfast(usually 1TS unless you do CRT) and dinner at a signature restaurant(2TS). I use the two snacks when I get hungry mid-day, usually something to eat and drink(other than water which I take with me to the park). Each TS meal works out to about $30--each snack $4(2), so if they don't want to do a character breakfast they should find a buffet or eat a lunch that will cost about that much. It will be very easy for their dinner meal to cost more than $60.

As OPs have said, the deluxe dining plan is a lot of food and can be overwhelming if you try to eat 3TS meals a day. You wind up missing too much time in the parks. I would never substitute a QS meal for a TS meal on this plan. It's not cost effective.
