I was just reading someone else's thread about the Deluxe plan and she said she would be there for 8 days/7 nights and would have 21 meals and 42 snacks. Am I wrong in thinking that each person in your party has 3 meals and 2 snacks per day? DH and I are on the deluxe plan and will be there 6 nights/7 days and my calculation for the both of us is 36 meals (3 per day X 6 nights) and 12 snacks (2 per day X 6 nights). Am I wrong?

Not sure what her figures are unless she meant that she would have 21 meals and collectively her party would have 42 snacks.

You and your DH will EACH have 18 meals and 12 snacks, so a total of 36 meals and 24 snacks (not 12 as you stated above).:thumbsup2

If you stay 6 nights you will receive 18 meal credits and 12 snack credits per person.

There's no way a party can have more snacks than meals. Staying 7 nights it would be 21 meals and 14 snacks per person. If they had 3 people they'd have 42 snacks total, not per person.

Okay, LOL, so now MY math was off. I don't have a link and don't know how to do that. But she kept saying that "I have 21 credits and this is what I have planned" nobody was disputing her so I thought maybe you only got 3 meal credits for one person and then snacks for all???? I don't know, but it freaked me out because I've already booked my ADRs and I have a total of 22 credits used and was thinking I would have to pay OOP for some (1). At least you have eased my fears with my belief that we have 36 meal credits and 24 (not 12 as I noted) snack credits.

Thank! Whew . . . :woohoo:

She has 21 meal credits for herself. Assuming her party is three people the entire party has 63 meal credits. She likely considered her snacks in the aggregate and didn't break them down per person.

Yeah, if the whole party is going to dine together, it's pretty common to see someone refer to the number of credits a single person gets, because it scales to the whole group. So it's easier to see if each person is using 21 credits rather than having to triple everything and count to 63. The more steps, the more chance for error, after all.

The only time you really need to be concerned with the entire pool is when you have folks splitting up and possibly doing different things (like someone at a signature while someone else skips the meal or goes to a single TS, etc.)

Snack credits are easier to talk about as a pool, because they're ad-hoc. While there are notable exceptions, most folks don't plan out all their snacks, they just get what they want when they want it. My family tends to spread them out, getting only one or two items and sharing them, when practical, so that everyone just gets to have enough to get a proper taste and fill in whatever corners were left unstuffed from the previous meal.

Okay, so if i understand this correctly. We will be there for 8 nights and 9 days. Arriving late the first day and leaving early the last day.

So, it's basedon the number of nights and the days don't matter.

So, each member of my family will have 24 meals and 16 snacks. Is that correct? I think it is, but just want to make sure. LOL!!

Yes, for the DxDP, you would be correct. :thumbsup2

So you are supposed to go by the nights not the days?

So 5 days / 4 nights = 12 Meals / 8 Snacks?

Each person on her reservation would have 21 meal credits and 14 snacks.

I think the other person's math was off.

I hope you are planning to book some more meals! You will be losing $$ if you don't utilize the plan to its full extent!

we are definitely doing more meals....just trying to figure out which ones we want to do  Thanks for all the help everyone! ;)

Another question when it comes to Appetizers...

You have 2 people on the deluxe plan, if you order an App for 2, that's it right? You cannot have one person eat an app for 2 and have someone else get another app, without having to pay for the single serving one?

Correct. Apps for 2, count as 2. If you order another then it's extra

There's no definitive answer to this. Some places do not allow guests to pool their entitlements for a "for two" appetizer or dessert at all (I've heard reports that Raglan Road does not allow this, but haven't been there myself). Many places will. There are even occasional reports (including my own 2009 trip report) where a single diner was able to order a "for two" appetizer.

We've done the DxDDP numerous times...our experience on variations in the interpretation of the "for 2" apps is that it's mostly Disney-owned restaurants that tend to say "go ahead and order the for-2 for one person and the other person can order something different." We've been allowed to have one person order a "for 2" app on DxDDP at Mama Melrose, Kona Cafe, Turf Club and somewhere else (escapes my memory at the moment.) Now truth be told...even for 2 people, those apps are too big. The for-2 calamari at Mama Melrose is more like a for-the-table quantity. We could not begin to finish the apps/entrees and desserts.

Raglan Road (not Disney-owned) strictly follows the "for 2" items must be ordered & shared by two people on the same dining plan.

Maybe she plans on using all of the combined snack credits for herself and not letting the rest of her party use any. LOL

I guess when in doubt just ask the waiter/waitress

Honestly, I think adding in the "days", as in 7 nights/8 days is what confuses people. As PPs have mentioned, dining plan credits are issued based on the number of NIGHTS of your resort reservation. Mentioning the # of days you are staying just causes confusion.
