Deluxe Decisions

We are also DVC members and have enjoyed both OKW and BLT. We didn't find the OKW transportation system to be an issue at all. Buses ran often and because of the resort's location, travel time to a park was not an issue at all. We also like BLT and you can't beat the location.
Before we became DVC members we stayed at CR, Poly, WL and BWI. Each has its plusses and minuses. For us, we probably wouldn't go back to the Poly. Just didn't care for the layout and found the dining options not to our liking. BWI was nice but getting a quick breakfast was a pain. Liked the dining options at the CR and thought the theming of WL was great.
What it really boils down to is pick the theme that appeals to you and that your budget will allow. What's good for one is bad for another.
We're going to try to keep trying new places until we've done them all (and then maybe start over and do it all again).

Thank you so, so much for all of your responses! At this point, I think we're trying to decide between AKL and BWI. We love the idea of seeing animals from our balcony at AKL, but I'm thinking proximity to the parks is a better perk. I LOVE the convenience of a boat to Epcot and DHS. Sounds like we may be going with BWI!

1) The Contemporary Resort - MK View
2) The Beach Club Resort
3) The Grand Floridian Resort
4) The Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort
5) The Wilderness Lodge Resort
6) The Yacht Club Resort
7) The Boardwalk Inn Resort
8) The Polynesian Resort

Do you have a favorite park or park in which you will be spending the most time in? For us that's the MK, so we like to choose an "MK Resort." our favorite Disney resort is the Polynesian for many reasons. Here are some:

-convenience of monorail, easy walk to TTC for Epcot Monorail
-well themed/beautiful grounds
-can watch wishes and electric water pageant from pool/beach area
-great dining options (even quick service!)
-watercraft/caban rentals
-Neverland kids club
-volcano pool (though we wishing were a tad larger)

I see by your signature that you booked the Boardwalk! We love that resort! Great location, easy walk to Epcot and ride to HS. One thing we don't like about the BW is that bus situation. When going to the MK, you are the 1st stop then you pick up swan, dolphin, yacht club, beach club. On the way back from the MK you are the last stop! It would never deter us from staying there bc we love that place but just thoughht I'd mention!

BW bus only does BW, Swan and Dolphin. Y&BC have their own bus to MK.

For us it was Beach Club because:

- We LOVE Epcot and DHS and easy access to those parks was high on our list
- Stormalong Bay (the pool)
-The Boardwalk area and being able to walk around and do fun and different things outside of the parks
- Relatives will be staying at Swan/Dolphin during our stay and we like the close proximity to them without having to stay at the same resort and feel like we have to do everything together

I think you'll love BWI. I hope you have a great trip.

Ultimately, you have to try them for yourself to know what feels right for you. We walked around all the resorts, and then were lucky to be able to do a couple of split stays at the ones that we liked on the walk-through ...until we decided we liked YC/BC best. The thing I like least about it -- not a MK resort. But other than that, awesome location, great grounds, great pool.

When you are at WDW, maybe explore AKL for next time!!

Almost forgot: Go Huskies!!!
