We're doing the 4night on DCL, then 3nights at the parks.
If you had to choose,(which I do!) would you go for a nicer deluxe stateroom on the cruise portion say CAT3, then value at the parks or vice versa?

We've been to the parks many times, this will be our first cruise. DH isn't too enthused about cruising in general. This trip is going to be a surprise, so I'm thinking to lure him with luxury to the cruising idea.

On the other hand, when we've gone to WDW, we've always stayed at a VAlue. At this point, DH has the "been there, done there" thought. Betting if we stayed at AKL in a deluxe or even the Poly(my dream :cloud9: ), he'd enjoy it more.

As for me and the kids, we just want to do disney!!
I've read that when on a cruise , you don't spend alot of time in your room, but that's the same with the parks. There's 5 of us, so I"m thinking that at least when you're in the parks you can get out a bit. On a cruise, you're sort of stuck on the ship, so a bigger cabin would be great.

I would meet in the middle on both ends! All the cabins on the ship are nice, and the actual cabin is identical from category 10 up to a 5. The category 4 is very similar to the other verandah rooms but all 5 will fit in one cabin.

Again, this is only my opinion....I'd get the category 4 on the ship, or 2 connecting rooms in one of the other mentioned categories, and a deluxe at WDW. We loved AKL. Next trip will be one of the other deluxe rooms.

The money you'll save by not taking the category 3 would more than pay for the deluxe room, and your room on the ship will still be plenty nice!

I agree with above.....the Cat 3 compared to the Cat 4 is much, much more money. Yes, the (mid-ship) Cat 3's are much larger but I think meeting in the middle for the cruise and land is a great idea.....

Stay at a moderate at WDW and then either a Cat 4 (verandah) onboard or even two Cat 9's connecting (oceanview) for 2 bathrooms!!!

The CAT 4 was another option along with a moderate. We have 3 kids who will be 12,8, and 4 at the time of sailing. I know that it sleeps 5, but will we be able to really fit in there or is it too cramped.

Balcony is a must,I know DH and he will want a balcony, so the connecting oceanviews are out.

Anyone ever done say a CAT6balcony and a CAT11 inside ,across the hall from each other? This would save some $$ and we'd have our own room. Thinking of maybe using a baby monitor, plus the DD12 is extremely responsible and mature, so I'm not too worried about them being in there by themselves.

We are a family a five and we did fit in the Cat 4 when the kids were younger (now they are 21, 20 & 17).....now we book two Cat 9's and we love having our own cabin and so do the kids (been upgraded to Cat 6's).

The only drawback to the Cat 4 is that when the Murphy bed (from the wall) is down it blocks access to the verandah....

Your suggestion sounds great.....this way you have your veranda and the kids have their own room!!! Everyone is happy!!!

Definately a nicer cabin on the ship. Category fives are excellent, that is what we get. You could do connecting there with the kids.
