Delta's website: Different price for 1 person VS 2 people!

I was just checking airfare for next July, Boston to MCO. Usually I enter the info and check "2" passengers, but just now I did it quickly and left it at "1" passenger. Last night the rate for 2 people was $165. Just now it was $155. I assumed that it dropped $10 overnight. But then I went back and changed the number of passengers to 2, and it went back to $165! What's the deal with that? There are a TON of seats left, almost the entire plane, so it's not as though there are limited seats left. Has anyone else ever noticed this???

P.S. When I changed the number of passengers to 3, it stayed the same at $165. per person. It only seemed to change when the # of passengers was 1.

Airlines typically only release a limited number of seats at sale prices. So, even though there maybe plenty of seats open on the plane, there may only be one seat left at that lower price. You could always book the two seats separately (two reservations for 1 seat each) rather than booking both together, so you could get the lower price on the one.

Thanks Shannon, that makes sense! I'm going to call DH at work to see if he wants to book this now or not :) (I haven't even convinced him yet that we need to take a trip to WDW next summer) hehehe :teeth:

That happened to me on Delta too.

I checked and waited until I finally got the same price for all passengers (the lowest rate I've found). :cool1:

I've found if you check it and then recheck it again within a short time, the system seems to hold those seats internally at the lower price. So when you pull it up again, the higher price comes up and you can't get the lower one again. Wait a little while and it will go back down.

You may want to wait and book it with JetBlue. We just booked a trip for 1/4/05 and got a rate of $59 one way and $79 the other/person. I beleive they are only taking reservations now through May. I am also from Boston. I did notice that their fares change between the time you are flying and the day. If we left of the 3rd and came home on the 9th (instead of the 10th) it was about $500 more total (6 people). I have yet to fly on JetBlue, but I have heard great things about it. I guess we'll see in a few weeks! Can't beat the price though, for an airline that looks amazing.

I had been watching airfare prices for our May trip. The day after SW released their flights out of PDX then Delta was within a $5.00 price match. The fares had been $434. I booked @ $227. I looked later last night and this morning and the same flight is now $397. Know your prices and book as soon as a good deal comes along! :cool1:

If you find a price you are comfortable with book it! Fares and taxes are up slightly from last year when we purchased tickets (maybe $25 more per ticket).

fyi
