Delta's Bizarre change of flight

So I logged into my delta today to just review my schedule. I leave LAS to MCO on Sept 15th..but my flight from MCO to LAS on Sept 25th was changed. IT was suppose to leave MCO at 330, arrive in ATL for a layover at 504 and leave ATL at 540 and arrive in Vegas at 713..now the change says it leaves on time at 330 at MCO and arrives in ATL at 504..however, the flight leaves from ATL at 410 and arrives in vegas at 530? How I'm i suppose to be in 2 places at once lol. I called a rep on the phone and all she said waswhat time would you like to leave Orlando and gave us a list of times. I told her I would haveto call her back. Has anyone else had this problem with Delta? Do you think I would be able to be issued a full refund if i Choose to cancel?

When they change times like that, there is an option to get a refund.

BUT you first would want to make sure you know the other flights you could get AND what their prices are. Otherwise you might end up with a refund that doesn't come close to covering what you will need for a new flight.


Find out what flights are OK with you and call them back, if you wish to continue with your pre-booked plans. Always do that before calling, when dealing with a flight change that doesn't work (or does work for you).

And yes, flights change in bizarre ways sometimes...

I paid $240 a person RT for my flights with Delta..great fare esp since everywhere i looked it was well over $4000-500 RT. 2 weeks later, Southwest had a 72 hr sale for basically $280 RT which would be the same as Delta since Delta charges for baggage. I was upset cuz it was a non-stop flight and with Delta there is a layover. Maybe I should hold out til southwest has another great sale and pre-book it on the site and then call delta at the same time to make sure I could get a refund. and if they process the refund, then I'll book with Southwest.

bumbershoot, thx for the advice. I did look at the other flights, and they are okay. Either they leave early or late. I'm going to try and hold on for a refund and if all else fails, i will just book an early flight. THanks :]]

Airlines often have a limited time after they inform you of the change and when you can get a refund (without the normal penalty) - pretty much to prevent people from doing what you want to do (holding off in case something better comes through). I'd make sure that they won't just put you on a flight of their choice, if you don't confirm a choice (or request for refund) by a certain date

I've had that happen. One time I was flying PIT-JFK-MCO. The time changed on the PIT-JFK flight so that it arrived the same time as the JFK-MCO left. I ended up going through Atlanta, which I really wanted for the times I really wanted at no extra charge. I've had time changes work to my advantage on my last 2 WDW trips on Delta. Get more expensive flights for the times I wanted at no extra charge.

Before telephoning, hand pick (preferably a first choice alternate and a second choice alternate) flights you would like. Then ask for them.

If the airline has a limited time between when they inform you of a change and when you can get a refund then of course they have to actually inform you. It is not unusual for the airline not to inform you right away; it is quite common for passengers to find the change themselves first by checking back.

Except the airline knows the OP knows about the change because they talked to a rep about it. I don't know if notes are kept, but the OP can't say "I didn't know about the change."

I agree with the rest of what you wrote... find a flight/flights that you want (no matter the price) and ask to be switched to them. Look at this as an opportunity to get the flight times you want.

If the changed flight was the "perfect" one, you can ASK for an upgrade for your troubles, I doubt it will work, but can't hurt to ask.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong please) that the OP is trying to point out that her flight arriving in Atlanta(layover) gets in at 5:04 yet her departure from Atlanta is 4:10 and that is not possible unless there is some sort of space time continuum. Call back and tell them you are not Dr Who
