Hello,

I was looking at the information for Delta and I need some help understanding it. Some informtion says Delta gives you one free bag..but then it says you can pay bag fees when you check in. Does anyone know? And then what if you fly Delta from Orlando to Atlanta and Dallas but then American from Dallas to OKC...Would you have to pay the American bag fees?

Let me know what you think.

Delta does charge for all checked bags for regular coach class. I believe that the first bag is free for those who are in first class and Delta's gold elite priority club members.

I would have to say that you would have to pay the baggage fees on both airlines. Why are you taking 2 separate airlines? Usually a baggage fee is for each leg - $25 (or whatever the fee is) on the way to Orlando and $25 on the way home. If you have 2 separate airlines each way, you could end up paying the fees 4 times.

I got the Delta American Express just to get the free bag feature. I'm flying Delta this trip, but I'll cancel the card at the end of the year because I refuse to pay a $95/year fee for any credit card (the first year is free). We don't typically fly Delta.

You are probably seeing the advertisement for the Delta Gold American Express. You get one free bag if you get the card.

I think you only pay the fee to the first airline when you change airlines.

Delta charges $25 for the first checked bag for each passenger. If you check-in online before your flight you will be able to pay for your bags at that point and then can just use the kiosk at the airport. If you pay online you will save $2/bag. If you use RAC at Disney you will have to call BAGS to pay for your luggage ahead of time and they charge the $25/bag. The only ones that get free bags are first class and the top class of their skymiles. We just flew Delta two weeks ago and had no problems with the online payment going to MCO and using BAGS on the way back. Just have a cc ready, your confirmation numbers, and pen/paper when calling BAGS since you will have to write down a confirmation number to give the RAC counter.

How does RAC handle DELTA bags when you have a DELTA AMERICAN EXPRESS GOLD CARD, where the fee is waived for one checked bag for Gold Card Members.

Can RAC see that it is free when they check in your bags?

I intend to do online checkin before going to RAC, the next morning.

Thanks for any advice, this is my first time getting to use the perk from Delta American Gold Card, for a free checked bag on domestic flights.

What happens when you 1st fly Delta and then chang airlines? Do you just have to pay the Delta when you first check bags in? We fly Delta to atlanta and then American to Dallas and OKC.
