I am looking at airfare for 12/25/06-1/9/07. This past year we flew SW, I am impatient. I can get pretty good rates on Delta - slightly higher than I paid on SW but doable. Now the question is should I? I thought I heard a rumor awhile back about bankruptcy. Anyone out there got some current information?

They are in bankruptcy. I don't think I would let that worry me. United and USAir were in bankruptcy for years. I don't think it really means much to the average traveler.

I wouldn't worry about. We're flying DL in May to WDW and I bought the tkts. in early Oct.
My dh flys them all the time without problems. The one thing you will experience is schedule changes, but you will have that on most of them booking this far out. (ours for May have only changed by 10 min.) I always book way in advance too, because of pricing. If the price does go down, you can call DL and they will give you a credit to use on another flight within 1 year.

I bought tickets on DELTA for 1/1/07. The only question you may want to ask yourself is do you think that Delta will keep flying that route? I bought seats on Song which will merge back to delta in May. I am confident that Delta will keep flying MCO/LGA non-stop. Even if they chage the flight to JFK I am fine with it. At 79 I could not pass it up.

I prefer to fly Delta. My thing with them though is if you see a decent price you're willing to pay - get it!! I went to WDW a few weeks ago. Left on Saturday - prices were great for August and October but I decided to wait until after I got back to worry about it. While I was gone, the prices went up nearly $100. THought it was only $70, but when I checked again this morning it was actually $100. That's nuts!!! IF they still had the great fare I wanted, I'd have no problem be booking with them for August, October & December!

Cheers!

I think you should do some searching on here (and online) before purchasing any airline tickets.

Me personally, I would walk to Disney before I would ever fly Delta again (and my boys also)....there is a reason you can get cheap airfares with them.

Delta is our airline of choice. We do a lot of travel and LOTS of flying and have flown on pretty much every airline out there. Overall, our Delta experiences have been very positive. We've never had any real problems with them and their flight times from our home airport always seem to be the most convenient for us. I'm taking a group of 12 students in June and I just bought our tickets on Delta with no worries at all.

Delta and Alaska Air are our airlines of choice. I just picked up our Delta tickets for December 21-27th. I LOVE WDW @ Christmas time. You will have schedule changes, but if the price is right I say GO FOR IT! :thumbsup2

I am flying Delta early May, I say if you see a good price get it. Because they don't last long.Never had a problem with delta

tkldisney, Thanks for the info about the credit from DL but is it listed on DL's website about the "credit being issued if we find it on sale @ DL for less than we originally paid"? :thumbsup2 That's my cup of tea. I've never heard that, but I'm sure glad to hear it. :goodvibes

We bought tickets in Jan for our trip in Nov. - Shreveport to Orlando $230 pp
Today the same tickets are $331 pp.

We've already had to switch flights because Delta cancelled our 1st choice of flight times but that was OK. But...that is some good info about the "credit".

I'm so ready to go on our vacation in Nov., I'm having withdrawals, I'm on the computer all of the time, I've typed out an itinerary & my DH thinks I'm crazy :rolleyes1 nahhhhhhhh just ready to have my disney fix !

I wouldn't worry too much about the bankruptcy. I flew Northwest last December NW had filled bankruptcy in September. The bankruptcy did not seem to effect anything. My flight didn't even change and I had made ressies in May. PS I plan on flying Delta this year because they are the lowest for me right now. So I will take the risk with you.
