Guess I was not paying attention or something. I booked 6 flights yesterday out of Boston on a Delta Song. I re-read a post this morning and noticed that a poster stated that the Delta Song was going BYEBYE - so I pm'd them and then called the Delta Song...

From what I was just told - the SONG is going byebye as of 5/06 and at this point they do not know what the future holds for ticket holders. Ticket holders will be allowed to keep airfare on Delta - but be placed on another flight for the same ticket amount - the only problem is - that we may not get the times we wanted.

Has this happened to anyone else????

OMG....thanks for the heads up. I've been seriously checking their air fare for May 24 for our trip to SSR. When I checked air fare it redirected me to Delta (which I knew owned them) but DIDN'T realize you could be stuck in limbo?!! :scared:

It directed me to DELTA as well - but when you confirm and pick your flights it lists the details and all 6 of my tickets say SONG - so that is what they said to me this morning - if I had a regular DELTA flight- no problems - but since they are still allowing customers to book - it is a risk... they will honor the tixs which is great - but still the times and such could be a problem....

:confused3 :scared1: :sad1: :faint: :scared: :crazy2:

We had booked our flight with SONG for our Feb. cruise months ago before Delta announced that it was going to be eliminated. A few weeks ago we received an email that our flight home had been cancelled and they had transferred our reservation to a regular Delta flight. It was a connecting flight as opposed to a direct flight as our SONG flight had been and the times didn't work for us at all. Needless to say I was quite upset and called Delta. They did agree to cancel our resevation and provide a full refund but it was a big hassle and then I had to make other flight arrangements. Fortunately I was still able to find flights that worked for us with another airline at a comparable rate. Based on my experience, I would be very concerned about booking with SONG.

That is so not what I want to hear - that is my fear and I guess a justified one now! they stated that I will be allowed to cancel once they rebook us - but my fear is what if the prices DOUBLE or something bizzare like that!

:::Sigh::: I can wish for pixie dust and all that - since we are flying from Boston to Orlando - I can hope for a non stop :)

Well that is just a shame, if you have never flown Song before then you don't know what I mean, if you have, then you know what I mean.

Song is excellent...Delta, well, s**ks of course..ugh. Why can't they ever leave the good things alone.

UGH!!!!!!! :scared: We booked SONG flights for June 7th. Why the heck are they still allowing people to book flights for after May if they know full well they won't be operating? (We booked them friday night) :confused3

EDIT: DH just called SONG and they told him the flight won't change, the only thing that will change is that Delta will be doing the flight instead of SONG. I hope she was being honest. I don't need an extra headache.

Song is by far our favorite airlines (followed by JetBlue and regular ol' Delta). I also am not happy that they're closing down Song.

That said, our flight for late May is on Song, and they will book you flights for November (JetBlue hasn't release November bookings yet). Like many others, I'm holding off to see what happens before booking flights on Song for our November trip.

I have spent all morning searching for another flight - any Delta Song flights from Boston to MCO are all on "SONG" - Delta can not offer any advice at this time - they tell me that I need to wait to see what happens. I would guess that if SONG is gone - Delta will have to put another plane in place of it - RIGHT?????????????

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I searched all other airports too - but only SONG comes up - what gives!!!

I hope what they told your DH will apply to us - I hope that a Delta plane will just be substituted - I so do not want the stress - I was tickled pink when I got this deal....and then to read it is DEFUNKED ---right after I BOOKED!!

Song isn't an airline. It's a brand that Delta applied to some of their leisure routes. Delta repainted some of their Boeing 757 aircraft, and added in-flight entertainment to them. Delta advertised the brand separately, while not hiding that Song is part of Delta (just as Ted is part of United).

Delta (including Song) is now operating under Chapter 11. They're restructuring their finances and improving their cost structure. It's very unlikely that Delta will shut down. (Another airline with similar problems, United, is expected to emerge from Chapter 11 next month after operating under Chapter 11 for over two years.)

Delta has decided to repaint their Song aircraft in Delta colors and to redeploy them on longer routes. The Song brand will be retired.

If you're holding Song tickets, Delta will get you to your destination. Your aircraft will say Delta on the side, and it probably won't be a Boeing 757 aircraft with in-flight entertainment. The flight times may change, but this was common with the Song brand too. It's possible that Delta may drop a route here or there, but they'll care of you. If you're on a popular leisure route to Orlando to catch a Disney Cruise, it's very unlikely that your route will be dropped.

Thanks for the info Horace. We've also been booked for just under a year now using Song. I'm not afraid - before Song took over this flight it was Delta. The actual scheduled flight has been a standing Saturday flight to Orlando for the past 5-6 years for as long as I've known it.

We booked Song for our upcoming cruise (we leave next Sunday!) and we were on a nonstop from LAX to MCO. We were doing a red-eye, and we weren't really concerned. It then changed to a Delta flight with a layover in Atlanta. That did cause us some concern, but we sucked it in and life went on... for a bit.

I did get concerned that possible weather actions could happen and we'd be stuck in Atlanta and so we just up and changed our flights to the day before we leave on the cruise, the 21st, and we're back on Song on a nonstop. We're happy. A bit of a concern at first, but as fas as we're concerned, it's all working for us now.

I spoke to Song this morning. They told me that Delta is absorbing the Song planes and that nothing will change except the planes themselves. They're redoing the inside to put in first class. She said that when we go in July some planes will still be the Song aircraft but they'll actually be Delta. We get frequent flyer miles with Delta/Song so we wanted to book with them. When we went to the Delta web site the only flights they offered for the times we wanted were Song. The representative assured me that we would not lose our $$, Delta will get us to MCO.

Delta will still get to your destination, it will just be a Delta flight instead of a Song flight. My girlfriend was one of the Delta flight attendants (she's been with them since 1985) who made the move to Song and now has been downgraded and has to go back to Orlando. It sucks but they've shut down the Orlando based crews and she'll have to commute to NYC and be based out of there. The planes are just being absorbed back into Delta and will fly as Delta but she said that everyone's tickets will still be honored.

I'm not so much worried about losing our money... I trust that they'll get us there, my concern is that we're booking for a non-stop flight because my best friend is going with us and she absolutely refuses to go on a flight with stops. She's deathly afraid of flying and says we'll be lucky to get her on the plane once, much less try to transfer planes or take off again. So... if we get switched to a flight with stops it creates a whole new headache that I have no desire to deal with. :(

Well that is just a shame, if you have never flown Song before then you don't know what I mean, if you have, then you know what I mean.
I don't have anything helpful to add, but I just wanted to chime in and agree with webray. Song was a breath of fresh air.

If you haven't already done so, please read this entire thread. The Song brand is going away, but you'll still have valid Delta tickets. For most passengers, Delta will get you from your origin airport to your destination airport at roughly the same time of the day.

You can call Delta, and they can tell you how you're currently booked. But you're likely to have several changes in flight numbers, flight times, and equipment between now and October. The Delta/Song phone agents won't know what changes will be made between now and October, only what's currently in their computer.
