Delta song carry on?

Can I carry on a shadow box 24X18X5 ? Unwrapped of course. I do not want it banged around in baggage and its a xmas present for my Mom.

Have you checked the Delta website to see the size you are permitted as a carry on?

Technically, no. The official size maximum is 22x14x9.

You might be lucky and they might let you on with it. It does take up the space that two suitcases might otherwise occupy in the overhead bins.

Even things in the overhead bins should be sturdily packed. They do get pushed, shoved, and squashed up there as other passengers stow their suitcases. Something fragile should be in a hard sided container.

I do know that on Song planes the space under a middle seat is slightly wider and less tall and the space under an aisle space is slightly narrower. I'm not positive that something 18 inches wide will fit there, will measure it in a couple of weeks and report back to you from Disney Quest.

My sis would be bringing it on the 21st, but thanks. I did check delta... I dunno, maybe I better ship it. It is precious and I am afraid it will get broke .


Now who is the best to ship "FAGILE" ? FedEX or UPS ???? Help !

I would take it to a UPS store and have it shipped. It is just a little too big to fit well up in the overhead, plus things get bounced around up there and people will attempt to shove thier suitcase on top of it. (Trust me, they pack EVERY inch of the overhead on most flights) It is liable to get very banged in the overhead bin!

I wouldn't have it shipped ground. Spend the money and have it shipped next day or 2 day. Less chance for damage.

I took some framed prints to the UPS store. They did a great job on the package. They have special stuff for breakables so I would just pay them to do it. They can ship overnight, two day or regular. I have used them a lot lately and all of my shipments have arrived intact and on time (and there were breakables involved.)
