Delta Question

I booked an October trip through Delta and like many who have already posted have noticed my departure times change. My flight down has changed by only 35 minutes but it's a close call on makingthe flight. DW is working the night shift and I was going to pick her up and head to the airport. With the time change I'm worried we won't be able to get through security in time for the flight, especially if we hit any traffic on the way to the airport. So I'm thinking about changing the flight and even the day. We like to get the first non-stop of the day on the way down. Does any one know if Delta will allow us to change the flight without penalty even though the flight only changed by 35 minutes. Also would they also alow us to change the day too...we got a good deal on flights ($79 each way) and we'd hate to lose it.

Thanks in advance to all that respond.

My flights in April changed a lot. The first time they changed it, I did not like the time and called. They changed the flight to something else I liked better. I did not try to change the day, just the time within the same day. They did it for free. Call them, the worst they can do is say no.

I have gone thru this alot. All I can say is it completely depends on who you get on the other line. If you get a rep. that is overseas, they tend to stick very closely to the rules. I seem to have alot of luck when it comes to US reps. If you don't have luck the first time, call back and try again.

I think I got an overseas rep yesterday....I just couldn't make him understand what I needed. All I asked was..."Do I have to call Delta for every single change they make to my flights in order to get my seats reassigned?" He just couldn't get it. I finally got an answer..."Oh yes mam, you must call to Delta every single time there is any little change." Of course a rep told me last week.."Please mam, don't feel that you have to call us for every little change. Just watch your flights as the departure date gets closer. Your seats will be fine." Okay then.......two different answers to the exact same question!!

I fly Delta every week... your seats will NOT be fine. CALL!

As to changing. They are normally pretty good about giving you a better flight on the same day. Changing a day for a 35 min time adjustment may be iffy!

Also, calling during the day seems to give you a somewhat better chance of an American rep.

It may be to Delta's benefit over the next few months to stop assigning seats. Otherwise, their efforts to become profitable by making schedule changes will be overwhelmed by extra phone calls to rebook seat assignments that are lost with each scheduled change! :rotfl:

That is so true. Delta changed our flight many, many times before we left. I had to call them each and every time to get new seat assignments. I knew our return flight was overbooked and even when I called our party of nine still had three people with no seat assignments. When we left for home none of us had a seat assignment on that flight anymore. We had a layover in ATL and as soon as we got to the airport we headed straight for the counter to get seat assignments since the Delta rep at MCO said she couldn't do anything about it. My family of six got our seat assignments all together but my friend and her two DDs (ages 7 and 8) were spread out all over the plane. They needed to bump 4 people from that flight and were offering dinner, breakfast, hotel accomodations, and a $400 Delta voucher. So I would definitely call even for a 5-minute schedule change to make sure you get your seat assignments back but for us even that was no guarantee.
