Is Delta in trouble? US people from your experience with airlines, after what happened in Canada March break this year when Jetsgo pulled the plug on 18,000 passengers no warning, here one day gone the next, everyone stranded. Do you think Delta will still be flying next year?

Delta is a huge airline, way more than 18,000 passengers daily, it will still be flying next year. They are much larger than USAir and they have been flying in bankruptcy for some time. United is also in bankruptcy and still flying.

I've been flying Delta for the last 3 years. Passenger load was darn 'light' after 9-11, but since 10/02 I don't think I've been on a flight that wasn't basically fully loaded. In fact I flew Delta today, and the first leg was full, and the second leg was overbooked! They started offering just $400 for volunteers to catch the next flight, then they up'ed that to include grd transport, food vouchers and overnite accomendations (the next flight was/is tomorrow). I believe they must have the cash flow to survive a bankrupcy filing IF it comes to that.

All of the old line US airlines are in trouble. However, I would not hesitate to buy a ticket on Delta. I don't see ANY risk of them folding up and leaving in the next few years.

I appreciate all the advise. We usually fly out of Syracuse New York as the savings for us are huge usually around $1000 canadian. Delta is alreay booking for next March so I am thinking about purchasing already.
