I checked when i got off work like i always do for our May 2006 trip. I am used to paying about $200 RT for flights. Right now its been at $331 on delta everyday. I check tonight and its over $700!!

I checked orbitz as well and they show the same thing for delta.

What is going on??

Did delta cancel all their flights from Phx already due to bankruptcy?? Seems a little too soon to be doing that after 2 days.

America west wants $437.

Do you think prices will go down at all?? If not, we may have to cancel our trip. I figured about 1200 for 5 of us to go to orlando, thats about $240 each in case it was a little higher. but at these prices, i need 2200 to go now. thats an extra $1000 to go.

Should i panic now, or will prices go down before we leave the end of april??

I wouldn't panic yet. I doubt this has anything to do with Bankruptcy. Sale fares usually don't go that far out and it sounds like you are getting full fare quotes.

Is this a holiday week (Memorial Day?)? If so that will make a difference and you can expect to pay more.

Doesn't SW fly that route? If SW flies it DL will probably lower thier rates when SW does a release for your period.

Your budget may still be a little low, but I think you will see a fare sale between now and then

I agree with Carol....don't panic yet....fares WILL come down...just keep your eyes open. My experience has been that none of the legacy carriers drop their fares until SW opens up their schedule for those dates....and then they will drop to within a few $$ of the SW fare....waiting is hard....but patience will literally pay off in this case.

First off....you are buying airline tickets waaaaay too far in advance. I never buy airline tickets until 2-3 months prior to a trip. Heck, I just got married in late May of this year and only bought my airline tickets around the middle of March (1st class too boot!). They will have better airfares than that I would bet. The spring time brings a lot of air fare wars so to speak.

Go onto the particular airlines that you are interested in and have them "ding" you when it goes lower. You can catch some decent fares this way. I subscribed to the air fare finders and also checked Bestfares for my honeymoon and it paid off. I flew RT for $632.00 per seat first class!

don't sweat the small stuff...and have a wonderful trip next spring!

I agree. I usually go in May and I don't start looking until Jan or Feb.
