Delta not answering. What do I do?

Hi all,

My mom and I have had a flight booked to MCO for June 22 for forever. When Disney allowed us to change resorts, we went in to make sure our flights were still intact. Delta made insane changes, such as getting us to ATL 4 hours AFTER our connecting flight leaves from ATL to MCO. The same crazy change on the way back.

I called. I listened to the automated machine. I pushed all the buttons. Did this 7 times. Got a recorded message each time saying that their call volume is high and they will not be answering calls at this time. Call back later.

There are available flights from ATL to MCO that we COULD make on that day. They have limited seats left. We would like to switch to those, but we do not want to be charged extra for that. So...what do we do?

I am thinking about possibly going to our small regional airport today to talk to the Delta counter before their only flight of the day is scheduled for departure. I don't want to be a Karen, but we would really like to know if we can get to MCO.

If the Twitter idea doesn't work, I would go out to the airport and talk to an agent, especially if it's easy to get to (my airport is 15 minutes away from work, so I could do it on a lunch break or before/after work).

Thank you both! I just got back from the airport. There was one guy there to check into a flight...otherwise, a ghost town. The Delta agents were SUPER nice to me. Fixed the flights. Made me laugh a few times. I would not have minded hanging out with them all day, but it only took 15 minutes from the time I got to the airport to when I left. I feel so bad for all Delta employees right now. For a lot of reasons.

I've tried calling them for the last 3 weeks to change my flight, but never got through. My flight was this past Saturday and Delta was sending my updates for my flight even though it no longer existed.
The connect in ATL was still good, but the other no longer existed. I was finally able to get through to wait in line to speak to CS and was told my wait time was approximately 9 hours and that they would return my call .......

Wow. Just wow. I am so sorry that this happened. Delta, as a corporation, seems like they are so overwhelmed that they have given up.

I'm glad to hear that they were able to help you at your local airport! My brother had a Delta flight for late June to come visit me here in the UK, which needed to be changed, and the online modify option wasn't working and then he panicked that he had inadvertently cancelled his booking. I was reading the horror stories about wait times (and my brother was really absorbed/stressed out by school), so I ended up tweeting at Delta to see if I could get help that way (it worked with BA earlier this year; they ended up arranging a time to call me, which meant I didn't have any charges for calling them). It took about four tries over a spread of days, but someone finally reached out to me and we managed to reschedule my brother's booking all via Twitter direct message!

I sent my very first tweet over 10 + hours ago and no reply(maybe I did it wrong:confused:)

I'm going to have to stop by the Flint airport to get this fixed.

I wish another airline at the same airport would pick up the ticketand I'd fly with them at no extra cost..

Don't want to spend extra money on parking at Detroit Airport and possibly more for hotel if we get booked on a early flight.

I think it can be somewhat luck of the draw if they see the tweet or not (as they probably get a lot), but it's always worth trying! :-/

I am sorry for your issues. But Geez----stop using the "Karen" reference. I have had a callback from Delta in the past. (the system will call you back and you will not use your place in line-you may also want to use the Delta FB messenger). Good luck.

I tried FB and got a error delivery several times. Calling does no good, they are not putting the queue for callback.
I tried Twitter 10 hours ago and no response yet.
Never heard the term "Karen" before.

Did you direct message them on Twitter or just tweet at them? I can't speak to Delta, but I know the Southwest social media team is fantastic. They respond within an hour or two if you direct message them through any of their social media platforms.

Never heard the term "Karen" before.
We have a whole thread on it on the Community board if it piques your interest :)

Ummm, I was on the main delta page, clicked the tweet icon, clicked the little envelope. Sent 2 messages and 1 general tweet ,Yesterday.

No. Is that a thing? Weird! I will try that.

I used FB and found a send a message and always contacted me, and I received an email from the conversation. I liked that because I continue the conversation and answer it at my leisure instead of waiting on the phone.

Months ago, I would get a call back after 6-12 hours when everyone in the world was canceling flights.

I haven't tried Twitter, yet.

Not all companies are responsive via social media. If you've already tried this, then not much else you can do. Frustrating, indeed.

My message finally went through on Facebook, but just waiting for Delta to respond.
If and when they respond, I'll see if we can get this fixed via messager or if they will call me back.

What my friend did once was use google voice and call the international number and then ask for an english speaking CSR....the international number only had like a 10 minute wait versus the hours long wait for someone stateside
