This only the second time in my life I have ever had to buy plane tickets so I could use some help please.

I found flights on Delta for December for $157 (taxes and fees included). I know there will be a $23 baggage fee each way for a total of $203. My question is.........Should I buy?

I am a down and dirty planner and would like to get it out of the way but I don't know if this is as cheap as flights will go and don't know whether or not to wait for Southwest?

Help!

Hi,

Checking airfare prices is like investing in the stock market! Sometimes you look really smart by waiting, and sometimes, well...not so smart. Sometimes the price will go up, and sometimes it will go down.

Are you a gambler? My opinion is: if you are comfortable with the price now you should book it.

Well, I don't know - do you think you could drive it for less than nine cents per person per mile? :teeth: Price is approximate, of course, based on road distance, not straighter route taken by planes, but still...

Delta is fine :). Personally, I would not pay to check luggage. We went down in December and were able to fit everything in our carry-ons. We wore our coats and sweatshirts on the plane to save room.

Well I did it! I booked. All it took was for one person to tell me to do it. (dpmfloyd) Thanks for everyone's help! I appreciate it. Now all I have to do is wait til December!!

Anyone want to find me a great deal on a full size or larger car rental?? Dates are Dec. 16 10:30 p.m - Dec. 24 6:00 a.m.

I'm guessing it will get cheaper as it gets closer.

Also, when I picked my seats, there weren't any seats picked yet. Does this mean I'm the first to book on that flight? Last time I couldn't choose seats til 30 days out on Northwest. I was kind of surprised you could do it when you booked.

Yay! Personally, I love Delta :) I've only flown them for long trips - and each time its been great...so I'm jealous!

as for picking seats, keep an eye on that. If you have reservations, I'm under the impression you should be able to pick your seats at that time - but dont quote me!

Congrats!!!!

NO! Car prices will probably NOT get lower for the week before Christmas. National and Alamo are already in the $600+ per week range.

Could you possibly squeeze into an intermediate? Full Size cars are running about $280 for your 8 days plus taxes for a full size while an intermediate is only $140 per week.

I would look at Mousesavers: http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html and check the codes there. You can also check Car Rental Savers: http://www.carrentalsavers.com/index.html and Vacation Outlet: http://www.vacationoutlet.com/car/default.asp for codes.

Make a reservation or two NOW and then recheck rates periodically. The $280 will look like a bargain closer to December.

I am PRETTY SURE we could squeeze into an intermediate for that price. Which rental place was that?? I would book in a heartbeat!! Thanks so much for the info and the help.

Hmmm ... I don't remember the company. Did you check the links in my last post? I'm sure it was in one of them.

Eh, yeah - the problem here is, even when there are discount codes (available around August or so, see mousesavers.com, most discount codes work nationwide not just in the Walt Disney World area), the rental needs to start by December 15th... said the voice of experience.

Well ... I am currently sitting on an Alamo compact rental from 12/20 - 1/3 for $279 including taxes that I booked on January 26th. The same rental is up over $1,300. If you know your approximate dates it is always worth while to book a car rental ahead of time.

ETA: The Vacation Outlet codes usually do not have back-out dates.
