Am looking at flights to Charlotte (from Manchester) for August & Delta are coming up with the best prices via Atlanta. Has anybody flown with them as we never have. Also do they have back seat entertainment? Thanks.:)

My friend flew Edinburgh to Atlanta and atlanta to Tampa last year and had no faults bar on the return journey where they weren't seated together and she had 3 kids while the other 3 adults were 10 rows behind her. She said the faces of the 9 rows in between were a picture when she realised the others were sitting having a drink and when she announced she needed help the 3 of them all looked shamefaced. But she was impressed with it all.

The only word of advice I would give you is be prepared for changes. It seems like when Delta releases their fares they have a lot of options and as you get closer to your departure date they merge flights. This did happen to us last year, it was not a big deal just something I had to keep on top of since every time they change a time or a flight you lose your seat assignments and have to call them to get new ones. Other than that we had no issues with Delta

Hi

we flew delta from EDI to ATL then onto Tampa they were ok, no seat entertainment tho!!! and we were delayed for 1.5 hours in Atlanta but after speaking to other people thats the norm just cause Atlanta is SOOOOO busy! they were the cheapest at the time but we are flying BA this year as they were much cheaper,

Hope this helps!

I think it depends on the flight - we have seatback tv to Atlanta, but not to Cincinnati. Also, I agree that you should keep an eye on your connecting flight - last year, ours changed but because we booked through 3rd party agent, we were not informed - hence our Tampa - Atlanta flight was withdrawn, but we didn't know until we turned up to check in. They sorted it by sending us home via Cincinnati, but it's not the kind of panic you need at the end of a holiday.

All in all, I would fly with them if they came out cheaper, they are a decent enough airline. Just remember, as with most US carriers, you pay for alcohol onboard.

We flew from San Francisco to Orlando overnight in November. As with almost every flight they do is via Atlanta and we were no exception.

We were very impressed and their efficiency was quite stunning. We arrived in Atlanta at 7.10 and departed at 7.50 or so. We were absolutely amased that our luggage had got to Orlando with us as we had a struggle to get to the other gate ourselves....

On the whole we would definately fly with them again - their service was absolutely spot on - particularly for the price.

Only down side is as others have mentioned that they will alter your booking seemingly every week until you go. They merge their flights to ensure their flights are full. Our overnight one was packed to the rafters and I had to sit next to a smelly bloke from Alabama. Looked like golfer Miguel Jimenez but smelt like a baboon......

This is great to know
we are flying out with them this Oct

All of the American airlines tend to "overbook" because of no-shows or connecting flights that get delayed, but Delta seem to take it too extremes. We arrived at Atlanta for a connecting flight to Manchester only to find that they had something like 60+ passengers more than they had seats. Those of us who had got good discounts on the flights were the first to be bounced off, even though we had "checked in" at Orlando hours earlier.

They kept us overnight at a hotel and then tried to pursuade us that we should go home via Rome -- the ground staff's geography was a little off and we couldn't get them to understand that while Manchester and Rome were both in Europe, they were some distance apart. Nor did they seem to have grasped the fact that as the pope's funeral had just taken place, there were upwards of a million pilgrims trying to leave Rome!:rotfl:

My advice is if the dreaded overbooking does hit you, be firm about getting a good flight home -- try to talk them into up-grading your seats!
