How often does Delata change their rates. There are none posted yet for Next april, I guess its too early. Thinking about going with Delata, from Halifax to Orlando. Usually go by Air Canada, through Toronto, but quicker if we can go through Boston.

I'm not sure how often they post them, but that's how we're flying out of Halifax in July. I was able to book our flight in January if that helps.

We're going from YHZ to Newark to MCO on the way down and via Logan on the way back. :cool1:

the airlines will post their rates at 330 or 331 days out..

The "discount" airlines aren't out that early, maybe 150-200 days out..someone correct me if I'm wrong on that :)

HTH!!

Do you Mind posting the times of your flights? We have used AC the past few years and leave at suppertime, getting to our hotel around 12:30 AM. My husband thinks we should try for an early departure and that would leave us less tired and still have part of a day to enjoy. AC prices have gone up quite a bit since last year, but if we culd get there quicker with only one stp we would consider that. Thanks.

out of YHZ, you've got a VERY early am departure..AC connects through YYZ at 10:20am...you can go through YUL from YHZ on AC too...it departs YUL around 3:30pm(there's one out of YYZ around that time in the afternoon as well.) Delta goes through BOS - and you don't have to change terminals anymore YAY! - and arrives in MCO just after/slightly before lunch.

The thing with Delta - for us anyway, is unless we grab that early am flight through BOS, you're probably going to wind up with another stop in Atlanta, GA.

Don't forget, you can check Continental as well...they fly from YHZ through New York - I think it's EWR, not LGA - and prices have been pretty good:)

If you want to drive to Manchester, NH (2 hours or so this side of BOS) you can pick up SouthWest...and they've got some great fares.

EEP. Sorry I totally forgot to check subscribe to the thread

Delta fluctuates timewise out of Halifax (you're actually flying Continental apparently, it's a partner flight)...but as of right now...

Halifax, NS (YHZ) 8:40am
Newark, NJ (EWR) 9:50am
Newark, NJ (EWR) 1:30pm
Orlando, FL (MCO) 4:07pm

Orlando, FL (MCO) 3:00pm
Boston, MA (BOS) 5:53pm
Boston, MA (BOS) 7:45pm
Halifax, NS (YHZ) 10:20pm

Now they pushed our time back out of Halifax...it was going to be something like 9:20, and I'm not 100% crazy on the layover in Newark - but the reality is, that's where I clear US Customs so you need 2.5 hours apparently anyway so a bit of padding isn't so bad. The price when I booked them in January, taxes etc in was $385.55. We're flying in July.

Anyone ever check Jet Blue out of Boston? I am not sure if they fly out of Boston or even to Orlando, but I have used them from BUF to NYC-JFK and they are a GREAT airline, no frills but still great.

What is a good or average price flying from halifax to Orlando? We're going in
Feb and the rates are CRAZY!!!!!!

We flew Delta from Halifax to Orlando for the first time in Feb 2005.
Our price was $385.07 Cdn (all taxes incl.) per person.

We made the choice for two reasons:
1. price (it was the least expensive at the time)
2. schedule (we left at 6:30am and arrived at 11:30am)

We really liked avoiding the Toronto stop and getting to Orlando earlier than usual. We also liked going thru Boston and clearing customs there (but hopefully Halifax will have the pre-clearing in place soon!).

Right now, I keep track of flight prices for all the carriers that fly from Halifax to Orlando. I only keep track of the ones with times that appeal to us (leave early morning and returning in the afternoon). Just occassionaly check the websites and watch the prices for what you want, keep a little book or a spreadsheet or similar.

I've noticed the prices for almost all of the airlines are quite high right now for next Feb. The prices were down a bit in March... and then began to creep up. At least by keeping track... you can try to see when you might be getting a "good deal".

We would fly any of the airlines basing our choice on 1. price and 2. schedule. If there is only going to be a $10-$50 pp difference, but the flight will get us there in the morning vs. arriving late in the day.. I'd probably spend the extra just to get our holiday started right away.

Hope that helps a bit!

I agree with you. The past three years we have gone through TO, but going with Delta through Bos is quicker. We usually go with AC, only because of the prices, but I have started watching Delta. We usually go in April, a busy time so it seems. Hopefully prices will come down a bit. Last year we paid $400. Can., taxes in.
