I need to vent , or whine (probably should be on the community board, huh)? I have past-date tickets which I can apply to travel on Delta through 3/2002, with no change fee. I have been looking at Delta's $119.50 fares from NYC for December, and trying to get my husband to commit to the dates so I could book. I was at their website last night at about 9:00 and the fares were the same. After that, my husband and I finally agreed on the dates and I went to their website first thing this morning. The same flights are up to $169.50! We have $139 per ticket to apply, but this will now cost us an additional $150 (we have 5 people). Does anyone think there is any chance of them going back down, or should I book at this price? :(

I booked our Delta round trip Newark to MCO, May 8-13 flights just days before Sept 11, when the price dropped to $185. I've been checking on this flight every day for the past two weeks, and the price on our very flight has varied quite a lot from day to day. Most often it was actually higher than what I paid - around $200. Today it was back down to $185. There's no way to tell. The airline market is quite fickle these days!

It's not just Delta...Southwest is $252 SAT>MCO in January. I'd planned on driving anyway on this trip, since a travel companion has sever ear problems while flying. Funny though, before SWA extended their schedules past January 11th, SAT>MCO was $75 r/t. They expect us to fly when they price gouge? 3 of us can drive it for much less than $756. I'd consider flying if it was $175pp or less.

I have been watching tickets for a while now, we are traveling in April. The tickets I want on Delta dropped about $25 each today. I don't know whether to book them or see if they go down anymore. My luck, they will go up even more!

I bought my Delta tickets like last Feb at 181.50(for OCT 28-NOV3) when we called to check our flight times we also checked the price and our flight had gone down. Delta credited our Visa $15 for each ticket( I had 4). I bought these tickets on the phone and was told NUMEROUS times that the internet prices were different so I'm not sure if you could still get the credit if you order online. P2O I would call them and see what price they are offering on the phone! Good Luck!:)

Iam getting worried Iam not going to get a decent price for our trip and the way it is we cannot afford a high price. So the price is going to depend on if we go or not. I have bought tickets from Delta every year for the past 3 years. They go up and down. Iam going to keep waiting for them to drop from where I fly out of the lowest has been 116.00 in the past, right now they are 191.00. Iam going in Dec. and I hope Iam not waiting to late to buy. I did talk to my inlaws who said they purchased tickets 2 weeks before their flight for 120.00 for last year same time in Dec. that we are going this year. Dont the airlines have sales the closer it gets to your dates to fill up their seats?

They may at times, if the flights are really empty. However, I think you would be taking a big chance by waiting THAT long. We purchased tickets for Oct. about 4 months in advance, when they were $139. Two weeks before the trip the same flights were $349!
