Delta check in at WDW

flying in on SWA but back home on Delta. For the life of my I can't remember how I checked in with them last year. I think I just went to RAC that morning & they checked me in? Also, I was not able to make a seating selection (all economy seats gone but perferred & first class still open), seating will be assigned at gate. Does this preclude me from using RAC? Do I have to wait til I get to the airport?

Delta tends to hold back a good number of seats for their frequent fliers and higher cost tickets. At the 24 hour mark these are usually released. If you can call Delta or get online 24 hours ahead you might be able to get pre-assigned seats. You may find few seats left if you check in at the airport, though they do hold a row or two for airport assignment only. Those go quickly though as they use them to get split parties seated together.

If you go online 24 hours prior just select seats, DO NOT check in. Once you check yourself in you are locked out of the RAC system and they can't issue BPs or take your bags.

I really don't care where I sit. Should I just call Bags to pay my bag fee (not sure if I'm going carry-on only yet), proceed to RAC that morning & get my seat assignment at the gate? What is the possibility I will be bumped from the flight? If I am, will I be comped?

How does RAC handle baggage fees for Delta, if you have a Delta Amex card that qualifies for free baggage.

I have the Delta AmEx too. No need to call Bags the night before if you won't be paying anything.

RAC should see on their computer that your first checked bag is free. I've had to show my AmEx card when checking in at RAC and the CM has written on a log sheet the reason for not charging the fee (Amex, first class, etc.) and that they saw my card.
