Delta Changes

I booked all travel through Disney Travel and now that Delta has merged with Northwest, some flights have been changed.

My outbound flight from BUF to MCO has been moved forward by 10 minutes, which now means that I could feasibly make the transfer at ATL 3 hours earlier than my other option. :) BUT Disney says that a change fee is required (not sure why, since this is (in my opinion) a major change to my itinerary.

Also, my homebound flight moved forward by more than 2 hours.

Are these changes enough to qualify for a free flight change in anyone else's eyes?

Thanks,
Jason...

You consider 10 minutes a major change? It's not, so I can see why Delta would not allow you to make the change.

The change of 2 hours for the return is significant, they should allow you to alter that.

I agree with the prior poster. 10 minutes isn't considered a major change by the airlines which is why they would require a change fee. However the return flight should be able to be changed since they moved it by 2 hours.

Depending on when your trip is, this all may change again. I really don't know about booking with Disney Travel, but something unusual (at least I have never seen before) happened when my Delta flights changed. I booked direct with Delta and frequently check my flights, as they often change equipment and cause seat assignments to be lost or changed. This time when I pulled up the itinerary there was a message saying that the flight times had changed and I had the option to accept them or click another place to see what other options may be available. I liked the new times so don't know what they might have offered.

I agree with the previous posters that a 10 minute change isn't significant enough for Delta to allow you to change for free, but two hours on the return trip is.

What I would do is to call Delta and politely ask them if there is anything they can do about the return trip since its a significant change. Then, once they've agreed to do that, politely mention that you noticed that now that your outbound flight is earlier you could make the ATL connection and is it possible to get that changed as well.

So to change these flights, I can work directly with Delta and bypass Disney Travel? I have a friend who works at Delta. :thumbsup2

You can try, but it probably won't work. Walt Disney Travel Company, as your booking Travel Agent, "owns" your reservation. All travel service providers will likely deal with (ie discuss) your reservation only with them, not with you. But, sure, you can try.

I called Delta directly. They had no problem changing the return flight for free... but couldn't switch the earlier flight... yet. The woman I spoke with at Delta said to give it some time and as it gets closer, they might be able to. I'm all for eliminating my 3 1/2 hour layover! [The only reason I called it a major change is that they've added a flight in there that wasn't there before.]

Thanks to all for your help.
