Delta Carry-on??

Could a child have both a rolling suitcase and a back pack (child size school back pack)? If an adult can have a rolling suit case + a purse or a diaper bag, etc. I'm hoping this would "fly"

I wouldn't see why not.

DH always takes his laptop and rolling suitcase. A child shouldn't be any different.

My husband had a carry on suitcase & a large backpack, so I would think a child should be allowed the same.

I have a very large purse that I use along with a backpack that I once carried on Delta & will probably do the same when I fly out in Nov with Airtran.

I would call to find out if your really unsure.

My son had the backpack and suitcase last year on Delta so you should be ok. We're going again next Friday and we're planning on doing the same thing.

I'm not sure of the Delta rules, but for NWA each passenger (regardless of age) is allowed 1 carry-on and 1 personal item.

So for instance this would allow me to bring a duffle bag and store over head, and my backpack/laptop case under seat.
My DD could bring her backpack with books, blankets etc. for in flight comfort (wasn't the airline supposed to help make the passengers comfortable, sorry I digress) and then some sort of day bag for clothes etc.
My wonderful wife would bring her carry-on bag and her purse/blackhole that carry's anything/everything we could need.

My dd has had a rolling bag as well as a backpack many times. The rolling bag goes up above, in the bin, the backpack goes underneath the seat in front of her.

Every ticketed passenger--child or adult--is allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item, such as a briefcase, laptop case, purse or small backpack. So, if the child in question has a ticket (which is required if they are over two anyway), they can take the rolling suitcase (provided it meets the usual size requirements) and a backpack that fits under the seat in front of them. If the child is under two and travelling as a "lap child" without a ticket, they are not allowed any carry-on bags of their own.
