I have a couple of questions for you DVC veterans
I have reservations to visit VWL from May 3-10th. This is our first visit using our points through DVC. We have had this trip planned for some time and made all our reservations months in advance. We were contacted by Travelocity today and informed that DELTA has removed a scheduled flight that we are supposed to be on coming back on the 10th. They said they had a couple of options for us. Either we could cancel the flight and get a full refund or take an earlier flight a day earlier. I wanted to contact someone at DELTA who can actually do something about this. Anyone know who I can call and discuss with?
I am also concerned if I have to cancel the last day of my vacation whether the 72 points (Friday 05-09) will be placed in a holding account or not. I am within 30 days of the first day of my vacation, however I am over 31 days for the last day. Any thoughts?

Just call Delta reservations and get them to tell you what the flight options are. 800.221.1212 Even if they can't work with your reservation they should be able to give you ALL the flight options. Based on my past experience Travelocity is not giving you all the details. Delta (and the others) normally try to rebook you on the same day just at a different time! (Unless there is only one flight a day to your city!)

There was another thread just posted about DVC waiving holding accounts for cancellations because of the war. Delta is probably cutting back flights because of the war, so you should be able to get DVC to return your points with no problem if you have to leave a day early. They are probably consolidating flights, I know USAir cancelled some Saturday flights too. Instead of our usual Saturday to Friday, we are going Friday to Friday (May 9 to 16) because the flights left on Saturday were so high. I got cash nights for Friday & Saturday. Good excuse for an extra day - maybe you want to add a day and come back Sunday! ;)

We had a similar experience with Northwest... we're headed to Maine for a wedding this summer.... bought tickets months ago . Northwest sent an email saying the flight was cancelled and here's your new itinerary. Fine, except we got to pwm at 10:30 p.m. and still had a long drive ahead of us - not a good option for us.

I checked NW's website to see what other flights were available, DH called airline and we switched. Good news is we get in at 3:30 p.m..... bad news is we leave at 6 a.m.

So my suggestion is to either go to Delta's website and check out what flights are available (search by schedule, not by lowest price), or call Delta, then contact Travelocity with the change you'd like to make. Hope everything works out for you

there is a lady on the transportation board who is an expert on the airlines -

Delta is consolidating Delta Express flights not only due to the war. They are getting ready to rollout their new low fare airline which will feature all coach 757's instead of the 737's on Delta Express. If any of you have Delta reservations to Florida from May to September, check them to make sure you haven't been moved to the new flights.

We also had an airline change our flight. After I listened to thier options of an earlier flight, I asked if we could EXTEND our stay another day. After all, who wouldn't like an extra day at WDW! They agreed! Then all I did was check out of the VWL and go to the POR for cash. It worked out well for us and after going from a 1BR to a moderate, we really appreciated out DVC!!! Good Luck!

I had this same experience with Delta on our last trip to WDW in Dec. They called me and gave me a couple of options but you should be able to call them and get it worked out. Most major aiirlines keep the same schedules day after day. If for some reason you cant get the flight you need for that specific day try the next day and see if you can extend your ressie at resort or you can always get a ressie at another place like All Stars. You will probably be able to get the problem resolved with Delta though. Good Luck, let us know how it goes.

I am not sure where you are flying from, but what BigTigger said is true. We were scheduled to fly out of JFK on Delta. I went to Delta's web page on Wed and the flight number couldn't be found on the web site. I was getting a little concerned. I then went to flysong.com to check there (that's the new airline name) our flights were transferred to the song airline. The flight numbers are completely different, but out fly times are exactly the same. At the moment they're only flying out of JFK. Come Oct, I think they said, they will tranfer their Delta Express flights out of Newark over to Song too. Of course I asked if we will have the Dish network and they said no, not at this time, it is not completely installed. Oh well. I guess my point is that is you are near JFK, you can check flysong.com for flights too.

Good luck! If they can't help you, maybe they can put you on another airline for the same day. It should be the least that they could do. I would tell them that you can't budge on dates, your vacation is paid for and make them accommodate you. If they can't do that, see if they could pay you for your day loss. Check all of your options ;)

I spoke with Delta this morning for roughly an hour. After several offers from them to shorten our vacation or cancel the flight with a refund, they were able to find another flight for us later in the day on May 10th. They were very pleasant and said this type of scenario has become much more common lately with cut backs and the war. I am going to keep my fingers crossed that no other flights are changed between now and our departure. :)

As some of you have noted I had posted the same question on the Transportation board. I wanted to thank everyone on both boards, it is great to have soo many helping hands.

I can understand Delta having to cancel flights and rescheduling but we paid premium prices to get direct flights when we could have gone much cheaper if we had connections and now we have those connections at the premium prices.
