I know it probably won't happen - but they are talking about it.

Now what happens if you have flights booked through Delta and they file bankruptcy? Do you loose your money and flight???

Just wondering.

It will probably happen. But filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy does not mean stopping service. It just allows protection from creditors while they reorganize under court supervision. United has been in bankruptcy for some time. USAir was in bankruptcy, came out and are back in. Your Delta flight will be OK.

United has been in bankruptcy (Chap. 11) for quite some time and they continue to operate. Chap. 11 is simply a way to protect assets and give the company time to reorg themselves to hopefully regain profitability.

If United is any clue, there may be some flights canceled, either temporarily or permanently. Some routes may change; at some airports they may have fewer gates, smaller check-in area, etc. Delta's already announced it may pull out of Dallas-Ft. Worth as a hub airport.

They will continue operations, but I'd expect some changes. If you book tickets in advance, I'd check closer to your flight date for changes (which these days are inevitable).

they changed our March flights today and we were able to cancel our tickets and get a full refund

I went and booked American.

good luck.

My Borther worked for a large Airline and we have been talking about that very issue. He said that the biggest worry is that a flight will be cancelled for moved. They have to give you a refund if it is moved more then a certain amount of time. My fear is that it will be cancelled but closer to my travel time (January) and there will be no affordable flights left.

I am still trying to decide what to do. A.A. has a flight and price that will work for us. I am leaning that way right now.

Good luck Dave

they changed our fligts for March on Delta just last saturday and when we called they let us get a refund.

call as soon as you hear something. they told us it is only IF YOU HAVE A FLIGHT AFTER FEB. 1ST
will THEY change. So if your
intenerary hasnt changed, it probably wont.

they changed them on September 18 for all DFW flights

good luck, and call if you are worried.:wave2:

Nope, if they go into Chapter 11 (which is all that is likely) you get to fly the flight you booked. You don't lose anything. Only the shareholders lose anything in that case. Note that a LARGE portion of US airline capacity is in Bankruptcy already, what with United and USAir, and perhaps Delta.

Don't worry! USAir I would worry about, but Delta is a much stronger company, and if they can work out a deal so that the Pilots don't use up all the cash by taking early retirement, Delta should be back on their feet in short order.

Should I be worried about my flight on usair on 11/1/04? Will they be going under? My tickets are already paid for..will I get a refund? Will I have to reschedule on a different airline? I'm sorry for all the ? but, this is the first trip to Disney for my family and my sons' first flight! I'm starting to panic..please reassure me that everything will be fine. Thanking you in advance...Tammy

Unforturantely I would be worried about US Air. There creidtors are already giving them tons of the problems. They have a hearing coming up and the goverment said they are getting no money. US Airwasy was planning to buy 100 RJ's for resturcturing but Bombardier just dropped ther financing for them. That is big loss for US Air. They are deep trouble in my opinion. If the survice they will no way be the same airline. If you paid with credit card you can dispute with them. Also airlines will honor your ticket for 25 but you will fly stand by.

Delta is strong wont be going under but more then likely will declar chapter 11. They should come out after 1 or more of restructuring.
Now Us Airways is getting ready to probably declare CH 7. Yikes
Matt
