Does anyone have any experience of Delta? We have to arrange a flight between Acapulco and LA, after a cruise, and Delta are coming out cheapest at £266 Business Class - for a 6 hour flight this does seem amazingly cheap - so what's wrong with them :teeth:

Haven't flown with them Gill but I bet the low price is only because they are one of the 'chapter 11' airlines, and that route is probably not one of their more popular ones. I can't imagine any American airline getting away with shoddy service or poor meals etc especially in business class so I think you should book! its not like its the absolute main part of your holiday and 6 hours isn't too uncomfortable even in economy so I think it sounds great.

The last time we flew with them (8.5 years ago) we had a bad experience with them and said that we wouldn't fly with them again! However DSIL told us that they are usually really good and she uses them regularily for internal flights in the US.

Thanks Guys, but Carol, I have no idea what the Chapter 11 Airlines means? Can you put it in idiot proof terms please?

It means they have been declared bankrupt and can go out of business at any time. This is the definition from Wikipedia

When a troubled business decides that it is unable to service its debt or pay its creditors, it can file (or be forced by its creditors to file) with a federal bankruptcy court for bankruptcy protection under either Chapter 7 or Chapter 11. A Chapter 7 filing means that the business intends to sell all its assets, distribute the proceeds to its creditors, and then cease operations. A Chapter 11 filing, on the other hand, is an attempt to stay in business while a bankruptcy court supervises the "reorganization" of the company's contractual and debt obligations. The court can grant complete or partial relief from most of the company's debts and its contracts, so that the company can make a fresh start. Often, if the company's debts exceed its assets, then at the completion of bankruptcy the company's owners (stockholders) all end up with nothing — all their rights and interests are terminated — and the company's creditors end up with ownership of the newly reorganized company, in the hopes that it will eventually succeed financially as compensation for their losses.

We are flying with them at Christmas as we got a really good fare

We`ve flown with them a couple of times in economy class, no problems though nothing memorable.
I`d go with the price you`ve got though, that sounds like a bargain. I`d pay with a credit card though to protect myself.
Have a great cruise.

I haven't flown them yet but I have to warn you that they change their schedules often and don't let you know. I just called them yesterday after they changed my flights by almost 3 hours. So instead of coming home at 8:00 with a 2 and 4 year old they had us coming in at 11:30 pm! I called and they got me on different flight but I couldn't believe they hadn't even told me. I had just checked on my own. She said to keep checking because it probably will happen again!! I am not sure if I had know this I would have booked with them, great deal or not.

Thanks for all the comments. We need these flights for March 2008 so have been looking at March 2007 for an idea of prices.

As the times are not crucial to any onward travel, I think I'l go with them when they are released - I'll be sure to use a CC "just in case".

Thanks again.
