Delta airlines baggage policy

Our family has decided we will drive to Minneapolis and fly to Orlando from there. The flights are cheaper way way cheaper. I have noticed that the US airlines baggage policy differs from Canadian ones. I looked it up and the Delta site says that you pay 23 dollars for one suitcase and 32 dollars forb the second. This is fine but is this per family/group traveling or per person? Am I limited to 2 bags for my family of five or can I pay the 23 dollars for one bag times five people?

Does anyone have tips or info I can use here?

Thanks in advance

We just flew delta in November. It is $15 for first bag per person per flight. So, roundtrip is $30 for the first bag. It is cheaper if you pay online. I will say, that if you use BAGS service for return flight they will charge you $20.

I am not familiar with Delta specifically - but I know that most airlines charge per bag per person. So I think it would be $23 charged for the first bag you check per person in your party. If each of you checks one bag - then $23 x 5.

What we do as a family of 4 is check ONE, BIG bag (watch the weight limit) for all of us. We put all the liquid stuff in it - sunscreen, hairspray, etc. - anything that won't make it thru security. Also put all shoes and anything else we can stuff in. Then each of us brings a rolling carry-on AND a backpack on the plane. In the rolling carry-on we put most of the shorts/shirts/PJ's/swimsuits. And the backpack has a sweathshirt and plane stuff. Then, when there, I do 1 to 2 loads of laundry after 4 or so days. We usually have a swimming evening anyway - so I just throw the laundry in while we're near the pool - very easy and quick.

Works for us.

Delta just raised their baggage rates last week from $15.00 to $20.00/1st bag. This is for tickets purchased this past Wed and later. (If you bought before then, you pay $15.00/ 1st bag per person.)

Thanks for the help. We will probaly end up taking 3-4 suitcases and 3 carry-ons. We are currently not allowed carry ons when travelling to the US from canada so its nice to know I can since we are flying to the US out of the US lol!

The delta site said it was 23 dollars we have not booked yet I didn't want to book only to find out I can't take the amount of luggage we need.

I fly out of Minneapolis and fly Northwest...which is owed by Delta. It's $15 for the first bag...per person...so if you had 3 people, it would be $45 one way for luggage. If you don't pay on line before you arrive, they charge you $5 a bag to do it at the airport...

if you pre pay baggage at online check in it is:

15$ for your first bag and 30ish for your second

if you don't pre pay it is 25$ for your first bag and again 30ish for your second

so lets say amanda billy chrissy jimmy and ken are going on vacation and each have one bag.... they put one bag per person when they check in online and pre pay there for it would be 15x5 for the total... now if you wait tell you get to the airport odds are they will try to have 2 bags go to one person there by increasing the total... once when iw ent with my daughter we had 2 bags ... they charged both bags to my seat instead of one to each of our seats therefor it was something like 50$ instead of the 30 it should have been at the time (this was back when it was 15$ reguardless of prepaying or not). I thought it was very underhanded. so make certain they charge it as one bag per person rather than 2 people with 2 bags one person with 1 bag and 2 people with no bags for instance.

We are going next week with my sister, bil and 2 kids. I will be looking into this and hopefully since we bought tix a couple months ago, we only pay the $15.
